[applause] >> thank you, mayor lee. the thing that i would like to get across from the amendatory point of view it is, the timeframe we are working to was always aggressive. we had a year-long construction project on pier 30/32. we compressed that into nine months. when we looked at where we were at, where the city was at, ourselves, we collectively came to a decision that maybe this was the best way. for those that no the intricate details in the planning for the america's cup, you know that pier i-80 was always the contingency plan for teams to base themselves here in 2013, just as they will do so here in 2012. with this behind us, we can focus on having a fantastic sailing event in the san francisco bay, first time it has been done before, and we are really looking forward to it. mr. barkley, and your colleagues. i'd like to thank the organizing committee. i think i saw mr.s have been working with you and this truly has been a joint partnership and one we'll continue to work with together as we prepare in the coming months and in the coming years so with that at this point, i'd like to make a motion to amend and hope we move this forward. >> we have motion to amend item 4 outlining the amendment of a whole. can we have a second to that motion so we have a second by supervisor kim? supervisor kim? supervisor kim: thank you, supervisor campos. i also want to reiterate my support for the resolution before us today. i know within the public there's a lot of confusion between the development and the event itself and i think that this board fairly unanimously supports america's cup being staged in the city and county of san francisco and we're excited to see this event come to us and i'm also appreciative of the work the city has done on the event and also to the america's cup organizing committee for working so closely with the city. i saw there were amendmen

mr. stephen barkley. have also perform a lot of work with the united states air force at one of them strategic air force bases in the world. i have seen raptors and bombers up close, the president's air force one, and others. the oracle racing fleet rivals of them all. there is so much more to be said about this new frontier in sailing than what we are talking about. the america's cup is a new challenge for the minds of children and young adults. not only to think creatively but to engineer marvelously. i know that the board has had wide sweeping concerns about land deals and local hiring and widespread economic impact, but it sounds to me that most of those issues have been resolved. as far as spreading economic impact across the various disadvantaged areas of the city away from the waterfront, that is what this event needs to focus on inclusion as opposed to just providing access to racing. inclusion will enable more people to reach the favorable pockets of the city and enjoy them outside of the race ti
