barr, a seventh circuit opinion in which she was in the dissent by two to one. the court ruled mr. cantor, convicted of a nonviolent felony, could not obtain a gun post conviction. what the majority is doing is using a felony status as a proxy for dangerousness. and what judge barrett is saying in her dissent is that as a proxy for dangerousness, a felony conviction is too broad, she would rather have an individualized determination, in other words because mr. cantor was a nonviolent felon and doesn't have a violent felony past or a violent past at all, we ought to be able to make a determination that he can have a gun, that his second amendment rights ought not be abridged. i read her dissent very carefully. i thought it was principled, i thought it was thoughtful. i just happen to disagree with it, i think it's unworkable, and that the majority is right in this case, because we have to find some way to do this more quickly, with some dispatch. i think others might argue and it sounded like some of the republican senators were arguing that if you're going to abridge a constitution

department of justice under attorney general barr of running political errands for the president in order to protect a political supporter and friend of his, mr. flynn. and we have exactly zero attention being pay today that. that is a fairly serious matter of interest, i think equivalent to the matter of interest in fisa, but nothing. the current fbi director is talking about present russian interference in this election right now as we speak to try to get president trump re-elected. where is the hearing on that? where are the documents on that? where is the declassified material on that? none of it. and, you know, i'll go back to what i consider, because i don't have any information because the fbi has given me none, what appears to have been a bogus tip line in the kavanaugh investigation. maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but a question about whether that was a bogus tip line, i think, is something that is worth answering. and yes, it is important that the fisa process was abused. but if an fbi investigation was abused in the kavanaugh hearings, that's also an important matter. i don't want to deprecate the porn importance of what we're doin

had been squarely yanked into, at least from a perception standpoint the political with bill barr accompanying mr. durham to italy and other parts unknown to participate in the investigation about the origins of the intelligence around russia. what do you make of those facts coming out in this period along with the facts that have been reported in "the new york times" and republican and other places that bill barr has loosened restrictions on prosecutors to prosecute cases and has briefed the president about some of those investigations in their very early stages? >> look, with respect to the durham probe, i think you're right. i think his resignation was big deal, probably a bigger deal than we know publicly. i had concerned about the investigation from its beginning, both the way it's conducted and specific with effect to the statement that john durham put out at one point that was inappropriate, but i always had a hard time believing that the john durham i knew at the justice department would allow himself to be used as a political prop in the 60 days before the election. that just seemed coun
