mr. bergman: thank you, mr. speaker. thank you, leader bost. i'm proud to rise today in support of my bill h.r. 4626 as amended, the department of department ofveterans affairs bt measures or aim act. when it comes to bureaucracies, i have thefer believed that maintaining the status quo is an acceptable path forward. in fact, it's an impossible path forward. the world is constantly in a state of change. the way american men and women defend freedom around the world and the way those same men and women seek care when they come home is constantly changing as well. the v.a. health care system must change too or it will never fulfill its obligations to all of our veterans. that's where the aim act comes in. the aim act would require an independent assessment of the operations and moving the v.a. health care system once every decade beginning in 2025. the independent assessment and framework in the aim act is modeled after the independent assessment required in the choice act which was signed into law in 2014 following the nationwide v.a. access and

mr. liermann to begin. >> thank you. truman luria ranking members nelson bergman and members of the subcommittee we are grateful for the opportunityrovide our observations and experience of these military sexual trauma. one in three women and one in 50 men report having experienced military sexual trauma. given the prevalence we must ensure that the va is putting the best interest of veterans at the heart of vha services in the vba related claims process which for many survivors is often complex and painful to experience. feedback shows once a referral is made to vha mst coordinator's veterans are please with the immediate contact and discussion of vha services. many survivors aren't embracing health services in its more direct access to health care. whoever there are challenges. the a.j. coordinator's are in great demand because of high burnout in a high turnover rate. a high turnover rate in the fact that this is conciliatory rather than a full-time role with has a of continuity to the coronation of services. va recommends we consider it service for team members that includes an increase of resources to providers and makes the t
