mr. bernstein, good morning. >>> we never get into the warm air yesterday and never got the severe weatherh we had flood warnings in loudoun county that just expired. this morning just a couple of light sprinkles are left over and gone shortly and then the wind is going to be the problem today. here's the day planner to get you going on this thursday morning. this friday eve. down to 63. now temperatures are still drop asking they should be still dropping over the next few hours recovering to near 60 by noon. and low 60s for a high this afternoon. got the windy icon there. i'm expecting winds at times gusting over 30 miles an hour. with the storm system pulling away. last night at 7:00 we had the heavy rains break out. the air was cool enough we didn't get into the severe concern many this morning a little tough to see but a few sprinkles light there and live doppler 9000 hd i zoomed into montgomery and loudoun counties. you can seal coming out of -- see coming out of ashburn and toward boyd and clarksburg right now maybe just south of urbanna and hyattsville a couple of showers this morni

mr. bernstein, how are you? >> 40s and rain all day. we were freezing at the fall for fairfax.k. we will have better days ahead. after today. >> ok. >> one more kind of cloudy, crumby, cool, damp, day then it gets better. hey, it is what it is. temperatures are still in the upper 40s in town under mostly cloudy skies. saw a few breaks driving in. a little rain north and west of towns. temperatures will make it only to 55 or so as we get into the middle of the afternoon. better weather ahead. this stubborn storm system still spinning. you can see the counterclockwise circulation with the showers here. yes, wintry mix. four inches of snow up in snowshoe. earliest they had that much snow. we'll check on that. showers still around. live doppler 9000 hd. you get west of hagerstown, west of interstate 81, the light, cool showers going on here this morning. this stuff is rotating down through the south-southeast. we'll see it a little bit later. look at the temperatures, oakland, quarter mile visibility with some fog and snow mixing in at 34. low 40s hagerstown to winchester at 45. 50

mr. bernstein has your weather first. rear-view mirror are the best days?rday we managed to get up to 80. >> i can't believe that! >> i know, i know. it was warm. well above average. we're much closer to average today then rain moves in. if not late today, certainly by tonight and on wednesday. wednesday could be a rather wet day. here's a look at your day planner for this tuesday. still ok to get most outdoor plans taken care of today. cloudy skies. we may see a late shower or two south of town. highs will be into the low 70s. some areas north will stay in the upper 60s with a near 70 by noon. look at the mutual there in north carolina coming north. just getting across the border barely into southern virginia. all of this is going to be slowly making its way northward. we'll be on the damp side here. 59 in la plata. 65 on the bay in annapolis. easton and cambridge at 61. winchester is 54. we're at 63 degrees. looking at the visibilities, a little bit of fog. martinsburg, cumberland, petersburg even up toward frederick, patchy dense fog. not nearly as warp

mr. bernstein will be here bright and early at 4:25. the next chance for thunderstorm 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. high school football games look great. just don't forget a sweater before you head out. it's going to get cooler. and a nice weekend. a little cool on saturday, but i don't think we'll have any complaints after tonight. so here is a look at our future cast. tomorrow morning some clouds, a little fog. all of the showers back in the mountains. and then we get into around lunch time. here comes the last batch of showers. so take your umbrella if you're walking to lunch. by 5:00, really by 4:00, we clear out. winds switch out of the west and we get dryer and cooler air and it lasts right through friday night and right through saturday and the weekend. overnight, mostly cloudy, mild, showers and thunderstorms ending. low temperatures 58-64. now, the next seven days is great on saturday. a little cool. we'll take it. 70 degrees sunshine. we got the dog walk out in potomac. please come join us. 74 for the redskins game. how nice is that g

mr. bernstein says rain is on the way. >> outside right now, very comfortable. winds are light and with temps in northwest in the low 60s. i don't think you need a jacket. as far as the rain, we may get some of that later this afternoon. but a much better chance we'll get into the rain overnight into wednesday. wednesday looks like a wet day. today looks like a cloudy day with a chance for showers this afternoon. highs will make it into the low 70s with the noon and 5:00 p.m. temperature, 69 degrees. we're cloudy and 63. still dark. sunrise doesn't occur until 7:12. there is all of the moisture coming in toward southern virginia right now. i was looking at the observation, it is not raining in richmond. norfolk and roanoke is where the rain is reaching the ground. we'll continue to watch and see how much farther north it gets today. we're 63 here and 65 in annapolis. 63 in readville. 55 -- excuse me, 53 from cross junction. steve calling that one in this morning. cumberland in the 40s. fog has been an issue like the last few mornings. also look at that. leonardt

mr. bernstein? >> weather-wise, mixed day today. some rain tomorrow. and then it's going to turn chilly around here. >> okay. >> it may turn kind of damp and raw on saturday. so you know, raw -- andrea doesn't like that word. >> i don't like that word, it does go through the bones. >> today, pretty good. upper 60s to low 70s. with more cloud cover and the threat for a shower late today. so you know grab the umbrellas, you probably not going to need it until real late or even after dark if you're going to be out. better chance to see some shores tonight and on thursday. lot of moisture oftest knot and west this -- off to the north and west this morning back dun into kentucky and even missouri. the showers are all moving east. sometimes what you see this stuff gets squeezed out hitting the mountains of the appalachians and doesn't survive. i think a couple of those will make the trip east through the later afternoon hours and this evening. this morning i want to point out we're in the 40s and 50s and in fact low 40s in cumberland. pittsburgh is mid 60s.

the lovely howard bernstein out on the weather terrace. mr.l him today. >> sun is coming back. in fact, even though the sun is not up for more than half an hour, the predawn glow in the eastern skies. cleared here in northwest and much of the immediate metro. our day planner, it is a good- looking one today. we've got a mix of sun and clouds across the region. low 60s at noon. by 5:00, 66. highs today, 65 to 70. a lot better than yesterday and the previous few days. yesterday was 53. a couple of sprinkles overnight. you'll be encountering wet streets in spots. where we've cleared, that's allowed fog to form. some of the visibilities up north, hagerstown, cumberland, oakland. even warrenton reporting half- mile visibilities. patchy fog across parts of northern virginia as well. grab a jacket and the sun shades because you'll need something to keep you warm with a temperature in frederick of 43. we're at 51 here in d.c. a good- looking seven day. >> unfortunately, i can't say that traffic is that good- looking right now. got the yellow light bec

what we would like to do now is head jared bernstein respond to that, and what we would really like is for you all to see this as a chance for a discussion. first, mr. jared bernstein. >> i will stand here. yes, sure. thank you, lisa and skip. ok. [laughter] >> let me start out by saying how much i really like this project. for those of you familiar with my homework, i very much try to get -- with my work, i very much try to get out of the traditional boxes economic analysis starts from, and i think lisa and skip have done precisely that. my comments will go a little bit back inside that box. i want to pose some basic questions about the research. i want to begin by saying i very much agree with and endorsed the seems you have heard so far. i think the energy trapped is real, taxing the middle class, and posing obvious challenges for our economy and the environment we will leave to our kids. the first issue i want to raise and talk most about in my comments is a fundamental question that i had reading all of this material and looking at those amazing graphics. i liked the little bubbles. it reminded me of drinking champagne or something. [laughter]

mr. craain. joining me now is analyst richard wolffe and jared bernstein, former chief economist for vice presidenten, now a senior fellow with the center for budget policy and priorities. richard, won't we see a failure to address the jobs crisis on the stage tonight? i mean, i told my friends it's like -- i used to tell friends at a mike tyson fight. if you're looking for a substantive job plan tonight, don't get a soft drink because you might miss it. >> right. well, you know, to quote rick perry, the question is whether these people have a heart about the unemployed. that's one side of it. you know, it's often in spite of the politics, in spite of the house republicans saying they wanted to campaign on jobs, jobs, and jobs, every time someone talks about jobs you get accused of being a democrat or a progressive. it would be nice for republican candidates to express some concern about the unemployed, unlike the tea party folks you just interviewed who seem to think that their position is one of sort of being too lazy to go out and find work, but even if you said all of the empathy question aside
