mr. keller? >> chairman john brandt, remember gramm and members. thank you. and members of the subcommittee thank you for the opportunity to testify here today. the department is determined to combat and prevent sexual assault in the military. the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect this country must be assured that they have the opportunity to serve without fear of sexual assault. sexual assault in the military is not only an up torrent crime committed as enormous harm to the victim, but it is also a very blunt the attack a on which that cushion depends tebeau we must combat discourage with all the resources at our disposal. the secretary has made it crystal clear to the senior military and civilian leadership of the department that combating this is a major priority for him and that he demands results. i watched the hearing this morning and i want to take this opportunity to think the witnesses for coming forward, and i believe that their testimony will contribute to making our military better. the department is in the process of implem
