butler. next up, senator fisher. >> mr. binion, nebraska has taken significant steps to enhance the security of the election systems and equipment. can you tell us more about these improvements and the threats that the improvements will help to mitigate? >> as i described in my testimony, hour first thing was to lock down our voter registration system not only on the front end but the backend. using multi factor authentication, the start of having a counting process. our expanded manual audit in 2022 is also a very important part of our strategy after 2020 to give our county the data. each county could have at least once precinct that they manually audit so they know that their equipment matched what the election results were that certified so that three prong approach has added a lot of strength and data which is important for our election officials to take back to officials. >> mr. farley, in your testimony, you mentioned the need for cyber security assistance for local election officials. what are the unique challenges t

butler. >> such an important question, chris, because the crumbleys, mr. crumbley is being charged in a different trial that will happen later, they're first parents to face homicide charges for a school shooting by a child. this case wouldn't have any formal legal precedent in the sense that it would be binding in terms of law and other courts. but it would embolden some prosecutors when their case in which a child has committed harm to go after the parents. and the jury would have to find that the parents -- in their son's mental health and providing them with the weapon makes them responsible in part for the four deaths. >> as we look at this -- let's listen. the judge is on the bench. >> are you ready for the jury? >> yes. >> let me ask -- when the jury reads their verdict after that, remain seated. >> i really want the audience to stay seated after that.
