mr. campos, supervisors, real briefly, the health department may have employee issues. i don't know. i am not in the health department. but certainly, we should absolutely not allow that to be a backdoor way of undoing what the citizens of this city overwhelmingly supported in the shipyards and the board of supervisors support it, also. someone has said, let the chips fall where they may. the chips have fallen. this project was overwhelmingly support it. it needs to go forward. the thing that disturbs me the most, on this issue and a lot of other things, i have -- i am representing the san francisco naacp and our church -- the thing that kind of really gets me is that we love to talk about the environment, but somehow, those who seem so concerned by the environment never allow children who are hurting and living in poverty, people who are unemployed, somehow, those people never disturb their environmental landscape. that messes with my environment. having clean air does not do me any good if it is being preached by unemployed, hurting, and hungry people. we need this economic revital

supervisor campos: thank you, mr. president. me simply say that i wanted to just note the main reason why i have introduced this resolution. i think that much has been heard here in staal in terms of how -- in city hall in terms of how taxi drivers feel in terms of the interaction they've had with the municipal transportation agency. and i think that very legitimate concerns have been raised by taxi drivers. being a taxi drivers is probably one of the most difficult jobs you can have not only here in the city and county of san francisco, but anywhere. and one of the things that i have been concerned about is this decision that the m.t.a. has been trying to overturn section 11 on 06 of the f.c.c. transportation code. that section forbids taxi companies from charging taxi drivers a fee fort redemption of credit card charges. but the way that the m.t.a. has decided to approach this issue is to shift the burden of credit card charges to the actual drivers, and i think that that is having many -- will have many unintended consequence
