mr. carpenter? >> i am also a member of the new council we have in hunters point. representing the >> in the neighborhood. one of my issues is jobs and construction. this is an area that i think improvements is going to be made, can help us economically. we need representation, represent the need and not agreed. that is part of what we do as volunteers. for many years, we have been missing out on economic opportunities. we have been gentrified out of the neighborhood. this is our opportunity to -- improvements are going to be made to let some of the dollar's trickle-down. that is another reason why it is important that we have the committee that can hear some of our concerns. it is kind of hard to express what it is like to be economically deprived when it comes to opportunities or to upgrade economical standards in two minutes. that is about all we get. i thought that is what good- faith effort means. the two minutes to get at the microphone. but diane has suggested, the commission should take that into consideration. the committee can sit down with some of the le

mr. tony camera dash carpenter? >> i welcome everybody to our community. i am a lifetime resident. i was born in hunter's point in 1945. i think that it is important for us to understand what economic development is all about us because it develops our community. not only did it develop our community, it developed our city during the time i have lived here. the redevelopment process, i thought, when it came to hunter's point, it was to benefit the residents. but over the years i learned different. it wasn't a plan for the residents. it was a plan for the city of san francisco to upgrade, and modernize our neighborhood. but in the course of upgrading, they failed to give us an opportunity to upgrade economically. when i was listening to what they were saying about the housing authority, and they mentioned a preference for 25% hunter's point residents. when they were rebuilding the development area and remoleding -- remodeling, i stood up for the residents of west point. you can't divide a community along project lines. now i find that is being done. it saddens me, because what we ar

mr. jim carpenter, who was an antique dealer, and that happened in the early 1970s.and so little was left beyond that, yeah. and the pieces that are actually descended from the family are very, very rare. and these are called "pre-carpenterian" pieces-- before jim carpenter. and this is a large and beautiful piece. george worked mostly hand-size. so anything that is bigger than hand-size is very good. and this is a particularly sweet piece. it has a nice in-body twist here at the base, and a gorgeous mottle glaze. he worked often in fairly dull, black glazes, brown glazes. and this is so alive, it has a lot of mottling of the greens and raspberries. these are really beautiful. there is a chip here at the front. do you know how that happened? no, i don't. these things happen, right? probably in moving.
