mr. speaker, i'm here today to honor a friend who recently died in a motorcycle accident. on may 3 in my hometown of corpus christi, our police chief died. originally from chicago, he felt drawn to texas. as a 25-year veteran of the dallas police department before moving to corpus christi, he established a reputation as a legend in the department. and according to his peers he was an outstanding human being, husband, and father. mr. farnte farenthold: he was a great communicator. regularly appearing on the radio and community events. in his interview for job of chief of police the corpus kristi city manager asked him to describe his values. chief simpson described faith comes first, family second, and everything else comes after that. in the wake of his passing, state and local officials are coming together to make state highway 361 safer. so even in death he'll continue to help keep others safe. my heart and prayers go out to tonya, chief simpson's wife of 27 years, and his children. i yield back. the speaker pro tempore: pursuant to clause 12-a of rule 1, the chair declares the house in recess until approximatel
