mr. ciccolini. mr. ciccolini, you are recognized now for five minutes. >> thank you, madam chair, and thank you, director, for being here. i too join in the letter ms. bush just referenced and i look forward to hearing about that. we talked about your response to the pandemic and specifically discussed release. given all the evidence we've seen about successful reintegration during covid, it seems to me it makes sense to fully utilize this tool. my first question is, what is the bureau of prisons' current policy to consider release of individuals with the highest risk of serious illness from covid-19? >> congressman, the compassionate release process is sometimes confused with the home confinement which we used for quicker placement. the compassionate release process is more difficult. it wasn't meant to be a consistent process. >> so is it my understanding you don't use compassionate release or recommend compassionate release to people who have a serious risk of illness with covid-19? you don't use that
