mr. gascon, and i joined him when he moved over to the d.a.'s office. joining the office on his request, because i think we really have a unique perspective, having worked on the defense side and on policy issues, and i can attest that he is undertaking a wholehearted effort to really bring some reform to the criminal justice system on many fronts, this being one of them that we are evaluating. i hope that you as city and county residents will see in our work that we really take some efforts that will reform. anybody that has participated in the criminal justice system for any length of time knows that it does not work from whatever and will you are looking at it, so the question is how do we make it better? we hope to engage all of you in that. we are starting neighborhood courts, and a lot of efforts that we hope to engage the city and county in supporting us and looking at ways to move away from the over incarceration of people and look at ways to reform their behavior. the efforts we have undertaken when george was appointed to the position -- jeff

d.a.'s office does decide to prosecute mr. kelly, you see here, there are several ways this case could go. could go to a citation hearing where he would be told his behavior was inappropriate and not to do it again. anger management or community service and once completed this would not show up on his record. to give you an idea what a conviction on misdemeanor battery could bring, the maximum sentence is six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. not a true possibility in this case say observers to the marin county d.a.'s office. a half hour ago police chief tejada told me she has talked to mr. kelly he's apologetic. mr. ford said all she wanted in the first was place an apology. she waited a week, didn't get it. then she went to the police. this may come to an end at the meeting. and maybe they can work on getting that reputation back. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >>> san mateo police standing by their decision to shoot two threatening dogs at a park yesterday afternoon. they responded after getting 911 calls from worried paren

d.a. has a very, very strong case here. and it all goes back, to me, hiding the propofol and all the things that happened after. but, most importantly, and i think mrspoke to this, is when he didn't tell the truth to the emts that came in. they're trying to save his life. tell them what you gave him. he leaves that out. that needs an explanation. therefore, testify, doctor. you better tell the jury why. >> and what does he need to say? would you put him on the stand? >> you know, i would certainly lean toward that, and i would imagine with dr. murray, from all i've seen, he would fight me on that. really afraid of the stand. so you'd really have to take him through mock cross-examinations, bring other attorneys in to cross him, to see how he does. to see how he'll stand up under a grueling cross-examination from walgren, the district attorney. how good a cross-examiner? that's one of the things i consider before i put my client on the stand. how good is this d.a.? is he just good at direct? because mostly they do direct because a lot of people don't put their clients on the stand. but how good is he on cross? i'd want to find that out. if he was an
