mr. duncan i would like him to respond to. first off let me say i have great faith in public schools. one thing i do want to say, i think nowadays parents abdicate too much responsibility to teachers and i don't think that's fair. i don't think take -- i think teachers are supposed to teach or doot discipline them anything that parents are supposed to be doing. i think parents expect teachers to do what families are supposed to do and that does not leave too much time to teach. the other thing i want to say, i don't think schools are teaching kids to think critically too much anymore. i think that's having a great effect on society. i graduated high school in 1976. i'm old. in high school we touched on controversy all subjects. we talked about the vietnam war and women's rights and civil rights. .e disagreed with each other we learned how to listen to each other respectfully. we learned how to voice our opinions respectfully. we learn how to think critically . nowadays schools don't want talk about anything that's controversial or might hurt someone's feelings. i think that's too bad.
