i want to commend mr. ellis and his staff for a report well done once again. i have heard it a few times, but it always gets better. with that, we are obviously in full support of this. local 22 have always been in support of local community hiring, and with that, i would like to leave you with one word, and that is forward. with that, thank you. supervisor chu: thank you. next speaker. >> good afternoon, supervisors. in a current resident on yerba buena island and their four impacted by what you call phase one, and i am also president of the residents' association, founded by years ago in preparation of the upcoming moves and transitions. i am standing here today to speak on behalf of myself, my house will, but also most of the residents. about 74% are in favor of what you are planning to do. in great favor, as a matter of fact. a lot of us have waited for this for many years, as you know. some of you that have been with the project had seen me speaking out in favor of this project, and we are excited and thrilled to see that it finally moves forward, as we l

and so one of the programs that particularly mrs ellis has been spearheading, we've had a number of meetings with the vice chancellor of the community college district, the plan -- and we're still talking to the community to see if that's what they want -- but the plan is for us to take a much larger role to have a robust selection of classes there for the community college district to also bring sheriff hennessey's programs into that program. to have a contractor assistance center there so that contractors local in the city, especially small ones that are trying to get into business with the city, can come there and we can help them learn to grow and act as contractors and then turn around and say, here's some job training programs we can take care of. we have three acres of greenhouses. those acres of greenhouses right next to that facility are not really producing the kind of local jobs we want and so we talked to the mayor's office to really bring in additional kind of work with the community college district and those greenhouses to create jobs and training at opportunities there. so on

when those hands went up, i went and asked juliet ellis whether or not she had seen it and she said no. that is what i ask for mr. [unintelligible] moses to get copies. a lot of people talk, but they never get to walk when it comes to this area. so, here is at least 20. but i have got more. pass it back. you could be looking at it. it is very important that not only you, but the community knows how long it has been since we started with this. it was 1969. it was not the 1970's. it was the 1970's when we talked about an advisory committee and what we wanted because of mitigation expansion discussion of the sewage plant. we have gone through a lot here. the citizens here, the homeowners. promises were made to this community. i do not forget the things that were stated that were going to happen in this community. the funds that were supposed to come back to this community. at that time there was not a puc. it was a waste, water, and the department of public works. i told some of you that i did not even know when you took over. because i did know that frank jordan, the mayor of this city, had stated to me that he wo
