mr. flynn served on various bodies governing muni for over 30 years. and it's under his tenure he led efforts to increase diversion at sfmta and includes hiring the first african-american director. he helped establish the minority and disadvantaged business enterprise program. he improved muni services to the african-american, as well as another communities of color and helped to shape muni's capital program that includes the restoration of our historic cable cars and construction of our subway system that we use today. he also worked to establish the very popular paratransit system program, that many of our seniors depend on every day. mr. flynn was one of the first african-americans appointed to the public utilities commission. mr. flynn was recognized by the naacp legal defense fund, elected into the american public transportation association hall of fame, and has received numerous awards and commendations from the national organization of architects and san francisco black chamber of commer
