mr. gallagher, i don't want to take away from your time, but is it related to the c.b.d.?> yes, it is related. i received my secured property tax bill listing the higher of the two bills at $698,000. i was told by the saysor's office that the lower value would be the value. i just want to say that before you create any new special districts with the power to levee new prod taxes, you should ensure the current tax collection system in san francisco is being administered competently. clearly today it is not. there are other owners in my building that have received conflicting notices, and recent being forced to float an interest-free loan to city hall we will remember this during the elections next week and next year. thank you. >> thank you very much. next speaker, please? >> good afternoon, supervisors. my name is david harrison, and i represent the ownership of the former triple-a buildings. i believe that we are one of the largest and maybe the largest private property owner within those districts, and we are here to express our support. we have at this time patrioted in

mr. caponi has owned the place and he always responds to people directly. he's well liked in the community. officer gallagher, the permit officer in northern station, said that he is personally ok with 2:00 a.m. but that it is their policy to recommend 1:30 on all of these applications. so i hope that you will take that into consideration and allow comet club to continue operating as it always has. this is a really good neighborhood, little venue, it doesn't create a lot of commotion, it doesn't make a lot of noise. it's just a good place to hang out. there's a little tiny dance floor, that's not going to change. it's going to stay the same. we didn't include these in your file, but i've got all these letters of support from the neighborhood historic association and all the businesses of the union street merchants' association and all the individual letters from the surrounding community. it's a well-liked place. and i don't think there's a cause for concern with these changes. as i said, the only people who made any comment to city planning were under the impression that somehow there was a major change in

mr. dave campos is the directer of the patent and trademark office. [applause] he was here. he may have had some work to do. dr. patrick gallagher who's the directer of our national institute of standards and technology. [applause] and dr. gary strickland, administrator of the national telecommunications and information administration. [applause] now, the achievements of the men and women who are on stage today stand as a testament to the ingenuity, to their zeal for discovery and to the willingness to give of themselves and the sacrifice in order to expand the reach of human understanding. all of us have benefited from their work. the scientists in this room helped develop the semiconductors and microprocessors that have propelled the information age. they've modeled the inner workings of the human mind and the complex processes that shape the earth's climate. they've conducted pioneering research for mathematics to quantum physics into the sometimes strange and unexpected laws that govern our universe. folks here can also claim inventions like the digital camera which has revolutionized photography as all these folks back here
