mr. gleason as mr. gleason's room kids are making sweet music. 30 fourth graders are learning all things music. most couldn't read a note months back but have since mastered the recorder thanks to their music teacher adrian gleason an inspiration. >> the teacher is absolutely incredible. so he brings so much knowledge and enthusiasm to the program, he is very passionate. it's a blast to watch his classes. it's delightful. ♪[ music ] >> reporter: you have a very cool job. >> it is pretty cool, yeah. i'm very lucky. >> reporter: and for the kids, it's a huge release. they learn about composers and the history of music even a little math but it allows the students a chance to be creative. no pressure, just relax. and have fun. >> it feels free, not like the other classes where you have to do work and work and work. sometimes you can express your feelings when it's slow, it can be sad. and when it's happy, then it's fast. >> reporter: it's fast. and it's competitive. students earned a different colored belt

mr. gleason in his letter to us also stated that, you know, it's -- there's a differentiation between electionses campaignses and policy versus ~ the actual administration of elections. and i think that's really important and something that i do believe that mr. jerdonek would be able to bring to the commission. so, with that i'd like to hear from colleagues, but that is [speaker not understood] i'd like to support the commission. >> supervisor campos. >> thank you. let me begin by thanking commissioner girard gleason for his service. i know that, you know, serving on this kind of commission is not easy, a huge time commitment. and when someone takes it as seriously as you have taken it, i think that we have to recognize that. and on behalf of the people that i represent in district 9, we appreciate that commitment and that dedication. and, so, thank you. thank you very much for your service and thank you for being here. this is a hard one for me because i think that both candidates are pretty impressive, and i think that they each bring something unique to the table. i was prepared to come here

mr. gleason. ironically when i became the u.s. attorney of the southern district a couple years later, we prosecuted john gotti's son, john a. gotti, also known as junior. >> was he convicted? >> he pled guilty, yes. >> so with the former head of the gambino family, cosa nostra, whatever label you want to put on it, did you ever fear for your own life? >> i did not fear for my own life. you have to be prudent about your security risks as a prosecutor. i think everybody realizes this. there are a lot of rules in the organized crime spaces and arenas and one is not to draw attention to yourself by harming a prosecutor or a judge. that is not true with other criminal groups. some of the violent drug gangs, for example, i think are a bigger security threat. when i became u.s. attorney in manhattan, by really happenstance, the trade center -- just before i became u.s. attorney, so we did a lot of major international terrorism cases and there is security from those cases. >> john gotti did what? >> he was convicted of racketeering. he b
