mr. haley? >> thank you, mr. chairman. our next honoree is a bus operator from [speaker not understood] division for the last two years. his name is alan yim and alan, on the night that the giants won the world series, was operating an 8x motor coach that was surrounded and the lives of himself and his riders were put in peril. his calm demeanor, his actions, his safety first attitude for his riders, he saved not only them, but himself. he prevented what was a very grave situation from becoming even worse. and i will -- probably couldn't do justice in honoring him to say enough things. so, we'll turn it over to him to let him speak for himself. but we couldn't be any prouder of the actions -- of his actions that night. he is the very embodiment of a hero. alan? risken and mr. haleyrom mta who are here to present if there are no additional comments from colleagues. thank you plrks risken. >> thank you. good morning, chairperson elsbernd, members of the committee, supervisor ferrell, ed risken transportation director in san francisco. this hearing, and for the support for public transportation in san francisco. i know that everybody's here, no matter how they feel about the resolution are here because they want muni to be better. i concur with much of what supervise wiener said in his opening and i want to thank him for being a greater support of not just at muni but in terms of taxi reform, in terms of transportation funding and his role at the mtc as well as at the ts. so i think he framed the issue very well, and while i think me may have a slight difference of opinion in terms of this particular funding, i think most of what he said holds true, and we're grateful for his support and we're working in the same direction to make transit work the way it was metrop

i am a big fan of you and mr. haley leadership of long-term hole and i think you're doing a lot of extremely positive things. so this:6jpÑ disagreement, i dot want anybody thinking that i don't think highly of you. in terms of the long-term, this is the free muni program is a pilot program, and the pilot program will end, i imagine among supporters of the program to either continue the pilot or make it permanent. there will also be i'm sure requests from -- and i've heard talk about it, free passes for seniors, for persons with disabilities. and those communities are certainly equally worthy to yeeth youth and have traffic challenges as well. how is mta going to respond to request to continue this program and probably to expand]v' it? how will that be paid for and can you assure me that there won't be operational money that will be used for that. >> so that's a great and very reasonable question. and thank you also for your comments. i guess what i would say to that, it's first of all what to my attention last year as
