joseph warren, who had spent 15 years in india and reverend mr. hayes, who had escaped from the violence of the revolt, gave well-publicized talks on india and its revolt during the 18 50s -- 1858 winter. these talks, 153 years ago, were given here in springfield on days, during days when as we know from the lincoln log, the presidents to be were in the city hometown. it is possible that lincoln itself attended one or more of the these talks. he certainly heard about them but his good friends, or will hickman browning could become a u.s. senator after lincoln had become president tells us in his diaries that i the information conveyed to me thanks to the kindness of professor, dr. -- and recently here. or will hickman browning tells us in his diary that he heard several of these talks about india in 1857 given by these ministers, warren and hayes. not only that, war and warren lived for spells and browning's home in springfield and served as master springfield westminster church. the revolt was thus talked about in lincoln circle. however, i could not l

are a reporter. >> i get paid back. >> i just want to say a word and then i will turn it over to mr. hayeso read the book i wrote as a more that covers all years of my life. the early years with a lot of good stuff to write about in the period of time. but the last half of the book focuses on the ad ministration and lawyers as vice president, and the book opens in the prologue which recounted the defense and i saw them on line 9/11 event it deals with what we had to do during the course of our seven and a half years to keep the country safe, some of the controversies that we were involved in on things like the terrorist surveillance program and enhanced interrogations'. that is a large part of the book is relevant with respect to 9/11 and the aftermath with other subjects as well. i guess there were five republican at ministrations worked closely with a fifth, the administration as part of the house republican leadership and so i try to cover all of that period of time but there is enough there that steve is trying to make a living writing articles about me. mr. mayor, for doing this, and chief hayes- white. she is always a tough act to follow. you only get so many chances in life to show up for people, and if you can imagine that this vehicle was engulfed in flames when the four men behind me went to work without thought of self. it demonstrates what the city of st. frances is all about when three citizens rushed to the aid of someone when a car is on fire. i know the sergeant is not here. got them out of the way. and then the officer runs up to the car, cuts the gentleman out of the car. the heat was so strong that he was not sure if he was burned. as you can tell, he still has a beautiful head of hair. he is fine. [laughter] it really does make you take a moment and catch your breath when you think about this. this happened in seconds. the chief spoke three to five minutes for our fire department to get on the scene. with regard to the live-saving, that had already been done. congratulations, and we have plaques for you, too. again, if you're looking for work, we are hiring. mr. henderson, i am very supportive of that. one of the lucky things is that we have to major neighborhood associations, both trying go and hayes valley that understand the importance of development and being able to accept a density hawn transit corridors and not just automatically say no and working with developers and focusing on good planning and transportation. i respect mr. henderson's work and i support his appointment to see no. 6. supervisor kim: we can do that without opposition as well. seat two, there is a motion to move forward michael simmons. >> i'll second that. supervisor kim: i think in -- i wish i had a chance to speak with mr. simmons prior, acknowledging the diversity of neighborhoods, i will go forward and support that as well. i am sad to see carmela not on this cac. i will see if there are other appointments for her. will be moving krute singa, michael simmons, peter cohen, kennethw ingar -- kenneth wingard, dennis richards and jason henderson. i plan to be more actively involved in this since i live in the area and i have the time of interest in what we can do our route transit and development. many of
