mr. henderson, you are being given something, frankly a gift that many people never get. and that is a second chance. but how do you get consumers to take a second look at gm? >> well, we are getting a second chance. second chances are precious t there are no third chances. and so how do we take maximum advantage of that? it does begin with great products. we have shown whether it's a vehicle like the chevrolet camero, the aquinox, the cadillac, we can do fantastic new vehicles. so for the traditional customer, the loyal gm customer we have great products coming into our showroom that people are excited about. the camara last month, 9300 units of sales last as we would say smoking hot. on the or hand, for those customers who haven't considered us for some time, look at us. we have fantastic vehicles, great opportunities, great alternatives and choices that you may not have considered in the past. i think we have a number of products that consumers can really get excited about. and that's where we're going to be spending our time. >> you also have serious competition. you'

mr. henderson white do you support her? >> good morning to c-span. let me start with one quick observation because as you know i do support the judge's confirmation. the american people are witnesses and something very special. this is about the majesty of american government. we are looking at a process that was designed by the founders to help perpetuate american democracy in the best way. the president nominated and extraordinarily well qualified individual to be the next associate justice on the supreme court and our senate is that engaging in its advice and consent process and you are seeing the dignity, the solemnity of the process that really serves the american people's interests and you were looking at an individual who is extraordinarily well qualified for the job, with the academic record and background that speaks eloquently about the power of hard work in what it means to achieve. you are looking at an individual who has more experience as a judge, both on the federal court in the court of appeals as well as having worked as the district

mr. henderson saying there is a lot of talk of working with remaining dealers to improve customer service, but more job losses ahead. gm is closing 16 u.s. plants. that means the company will ax more jobs in the u.s. that's really a big ax that they're making there, tony. >> how will the new gm, lauren, i'll ask you this in a second, as well. how will the new gm differ, stephanie, from the old one? >> it will be about the customer here. doesn't matter if you make a great product if no one wants to buy it. you have to get people in there and go ahead and change that perception that many people have that american cars are not built as well as other cars in the world. that's one thing they're working on there. henderson saying they're going to launch a tell fritz website that he will respond to every day and he plans to hit the road next month to listen to customers' questions and concerns and global operations that he will be doing this for and also about going back to what gm is great at and what he called exciting customers. overseas sales, for example, if you look at china. very strong t

mr. henderson indicates that the idea of shutting all these dealerships, in their case 2,600, wasn't his idea. the purchaser rejected their plan. does the gentleman know who the purchaser of general motors is? it's the united states government. mr. nunes: it's us, the people. mr. latourette: the task force. they rejected cry letter's plan, they reject the general motor's plan. go back to the drawing board. mr. ratner, who was the head of the task force said, you got to come up with a new plan. and mr. bloom testified in front of the senate that they rejected the plans because they didn't find the car company's plans to be aggressive enough when it came to shutting down plants, throwing people out of work, and closing car dealerships. so again just like when people were shocked about the a.i.g. bonus, the people running around town here are saying i'm shocked. you shouldn't be shocked. you told them what to do. you didn't say you have to close 10. you didn't say that you have to close one in cleveland and one in california. but you did say you had to close a bunch. you can't walk away fro
