mr. henderson's declaration goes to city operations, of which the sheriff is a part. it goes to city efforts to combat domestic violence, and how city agencies have collaborated in that effort to gather, -- together and with the community. it explains the sheriff has a duty and responsibility with regard to that city would work. -- citywide work. it concludes that domestic violence advocates who are working directly with deputy chief of staff henderson, and are informing him directly of their efforts, are no longer willing to work with the sheriff' if ross mirkarimi is at the table, because of the incidents under consideration. i believe that is relevant to the duties of the sheriff's office. it may be that share of -- sheriff mirkarimi does not believe that collaborating with the community is part of the office, but this is evidence that it is, and it is relevant. even if the commission finds to the contrary, this evidence is relevant. as for the final three paragraphs, which art objected to a speculative, lacking foundation, and purported to be an opinion, they are

mrs. henderson will be deanne, doug, and chris. >> good morning. i am a resident of district 10. today i am here is a staff person for supervisor olague in district 5. we received quite a bit of correspondence. i wanted to make sure you were aware of what the supervisor has received in her office from members of different neighborhoods. we have gotten a number of letters from the lower haight, particularly around the commercial corridor and 55 laguna. we're wanting to bring it to your attention that there is a significant amount of interest in bringing 55 laguna into the district as well as keeping the haight street recorder complete. we have received correspondence from the [unintelligible] and want to be sure to highlight that sunset feel connected mostly to the haight and panhandle. they feel like they would be disconnected if they were cut off and included interdistrict for. -- into district 4. we have received several letters in the past few days from residents on grove and schrader. [tone!] we want to make sure we support the constituents who have reached out to us. we want

mr. henderson again, we talked about the summer youth employment program where you are planning -- were you hired 5000 two -- 5002 young people. we would like to find out how to capitalize on that because we would like year-round employment for young people. where are we getting the use -- what parts of san francisco are we giving them jobs from? >> the chief just talked about the program where he said the youths were out and doing jobs. i just went yesterday with the mayor to see what they were doing outside the san bruno jail where they are outside in the field and growing. that is supposed to be given to different agencies throughout the city. we personally met with a lot of the kids. a lot of them were from ingleside and the bayview. there were all talking about how transformative it was, not just for them but their families as well. they are paid $11 an hour for the work that they are doing. it comes down to making sure that we continue to build a final aa funnel and a bridge to those communities to help make the salaries. i know the plan is to try to see if we can institutionalize tho

mr. paul henderson. >> thank you, supervisor. i am paul henderson, director of public safety for the mayor's office. i want to start off by thanking you for having us here to present the information, and also to a knowledge the comments from supervisor olague as well. what you touched upon is really important here today. that is, the discussion about how all of the information is incorrect -- interconnected. keep in mind that none of these agencies and individuals you are hearing from our operating in silos. they are not just talking about specific neighborhoods. they're talking about public safety from a citywide approach, which is kind of what my role is here in the mayor's office, to take the city wide approach to a lot of these issues. while also specifically addressing some of the issues that were raided the -- raised in the ingleside neighborhood where shootings have gone up. there has been an uptick recently with shooting and with homicide as well. other agencies will talk about that. but i do want to keep a perspective th
