mr. herrera. i have a question. last year when you came before us we had a discussion about the city attorney's protection which is an important aspect of the city attorney's work. we've seen over and over again the city attorney filing a lawsuit for the benefit of the public. that's a protection lay i believe you and your predecessor have used ton the city's on behalf of. can you update us on where we are with the issues? >> yes supervisors. over 2011 with a variety of cases in the press our checking for arbitration forum we've had the opportunity to recover $20 million. under prop 64 that money is mandated to continue to go to the protection efforts. since that time the included in our budget over last year and this year which is $1.8 million which have been allocated for that we've got 15 unlawful million dollars that could be used to funded consumer protection and other efforts that can benefit the folks in san francisco. i've had discussion with the mayor's office and whether additional fund or resources are ma

mr. herrera, i really appreciate the focus on equity and consistency within the new number of hours that are being allocated. and i know the library commission made those allocations for those reasons, to have a baseline, but also for equity purposes especially in bran etches that really need it. ~ branches i did want to ask since some of the library user groups [speaker not understood] and others raised a concern about the need for more locations open later. and i know that your driving concerns by the commission was equity and consistency. but if you could just address the later night hours and how you came about to this cured baseline. >> sure, i appreciate the question. we are looking at striking a balance between what the data informed us, which was we wanted more early hours in addition to some evening hours. so, we're actually pleased to report that 17 of the neighborhood branches will have extended hours beyond 8 o'clock so those 17 will be open until 9 o'clock. so, we do have evening hours in many of our neighborhood branches. the other thing i forgot to mention which is really

mr. chafee's previous speaker had an additional $30,000. this is particularly the items that are spent on travel, hotel accommodation etc. herreraas a total discretion to spend these funds including some for his personal benefit. he has failed to report any of these gifts as required by state and local ordinances, i have to wonder whether any of these sums were reported to the internal revenue services and franchise tax board. these gifts were spent on the staff, i wonder if city employees were given information about the potential tax liability incurred by accepting these gifts. using his position as city librarian , to make false statements and has placed a dozens of employees to having violated both federal and state tax codes. on a different topic, icon congratulated one member on this board who has paid attention to the commendation. while they are particularly honoree they pay attention but they don't pay attention to other people. i think it's really disconcerting being honored and the member of the board is looking the other way when it comes to money. >> next speaker. >> good afternoon supervisors. peter war field execu
