mr. himes: thank you, mr. speaker and thank you to mr. pallone for yielding. i rise in support of the synthetic drug control act which will reclassify 22 dangerous sin sympathetic substances as class one substances subject to the control and enforcemented associated with class one substances. the community i represent, like every community represented in this chamber has been visited by the tragedy of fatal drug overdose. we know the statistics nationally. opioid deaths are in the 30,000th neighborhood. that is a tragedy around the country. the substances that we reclassify today include the fentanyl substances that are associated with the gruesome overdoses often mixed with heroin. fentanyl is the drug responsible for the overdose death of musician prince. the sin sympathetic drugs that are being scheduled today through this p bill are personishous because they are marketed in corner retail establishments and in ways designed to aappeal to young people, in colored packages with names of k-2 and spice clearly targeting our young constituents. we are engaged in
