mr. kelly: good afternoon. great to be here. a couple of comments and then we will open it up. coming into the job as chief of staff i decided to not do very much with the press until i get my feet on the ground and figure it out. figure out what base i was on on any given day. prior to this, as a marine general officer, interacting with the press a great deal, but coming into this job i really needed to get to know the lay of the land. i have think -- think i have done three of the records. and i thank you for all of you that did not violate the trust from that, from those off the record, off the record periods. i would offer to you that although i read it all the time, pretty consistently, i am not quitting today. mr. kelly: thank you, everybody. >> what do you think has been the deficiency and we have been at this over and over again, is there something that you are requesting? do you feel there is something in your legislative strategy that has failed? y does this not resonate and -- mr. kelly: polarization of our politics and people lining up on the side of a powerful corporate interest with a lot of money who happens to support a lot of candidates to get them elected to office. and that's a problem. reporter: how do you overcome that? mr. kelly: we have been working to overcome this with the resources that we have to put the people in office that will accept this as a public health issue, that will work to come up with responsible and sensible solutions that by the way, protect the second amendment but at the same time keep guns out of the wrong hands. the resources are not balanced. we are always looking -- you know, it's quite out of balance until we work on fixing campaign finance reform, it will
