and mrs. lee. mr. e was the dialysis patient and he's probably in his 80's and every time we would drive up to buchanan street, the hospital, mr. lee would say, "good job, fine driver, number one driver" and he would go like this [thumbs up gesture]. and then as brian would be helping him off the van, mr. lee, i heard him so often say, "brian, if anybody gives you any trouble you send them to me and i'll take care of them." and here great big old brian would say, "henry, you're the first one i would try to get help from." and he says, "the second one is elsa." [laugh] so we knew that we were being relied on by brian. a few weeks back, mrs. lee called brian early in the morning to tell him not to bother picking them up because they were already at the hospital. mr. lee was ill and she had taken him to the er. the next day or so, brian, on his lunchtime, found out that mr. lee had been admitted to the hospital and he went up to mr. lee's room and just stuck his head in just to say hello. and the minute mr

both mr. lee and mr. eicher obviously very well qualified. mr. lee has extensive experience in the city, as does mr. eicher and supervisor wiener spoke very well about it. but from my point of view, it is really simple and a rule we really adhere to, until i think about this time, this appointment on the rules committee, was that when we have qualified san francisco candidates as supervisor wiener mentioned, to grant a residency waiver requirement for someone, it's just something we don't do if we have a san franciscan willing to represent. i know mr. lee has been in district two for a long time and i believe and understand he moved out for personal reasons and i very much respect that. on a very personal level. however, the fact remains he is asking for a residency waiver requirement. what are we seeing -- saying as a board here if we're going to overturp the rules committee, grant residency waiver requirements over a san franciscan? it's something i cannot do and that's why i continue to support mr. eicher. supervisor campos: thank you very much

mr. lee, you and tim had the most support. you had mr. paulson supporting it.ate for one candidate. i have been to a number of your venues. i -- having been to a number of your venues, i know of your work and it is incredibly impressive. mr. eicher, you had a ton of folks here as well. one of the things i have realized on the board, i have seen in district 2 is a lot between the neighborhoods and the commercial corridors. that is an inherent tension in our great neighbor kids in the city. it has come through for what people have said and what you have said about your desire to integrate and work through those issues. that is so important and especially our technology background, it is very fascinating for me personally. i will indicate where i am thinking right now and i will let my colleagues talk. amie, i will have difficulty considering her today given that she is not here. this may seem not fair. it has been consistent with what i've done all year. when we have all lot of -- even though your recently moved out, when we have a residency waiver requirements,

i would like to talk to you about about -- about mr. lee. i would like to talk about a positive aspect of his fine character. when i first came to these advertising agencies i helped found and establish a full service communications firm to target the burgeoning asian americans and the greater part of asia. i had an office space in san francisco. everyone here knows -- the idea being that he did one and two color print jobs. i hired him one day and h iis pressman was sick. he rolled up his sleeves and operating the printing press to get the job done. one of his fine qualities is he made a good-faith effort and his can-do spirit of rolling up his sleeves which would make him a fine entertainment commissioner to the city. supervisor kim: thank you. thank you for being here. there is no particular order. >> i am a native san franciscan. i am here today to speak in support of steven lee. i have known him for many years. i have enjoyed his party's which he hosted as a promoter. as a business owner i know he is a great supporter of many community

mr. eicher but i wanted to make a motion that we consider steven lee as our appointment. steven lee has been a 34-year experienced industry professional. i've known of his work sips my days at san francisco state -- since my days at san francisco state where he organized many of the different concerts and dances throughout the communities. he's done a tremendous job reworking the former historic gay disco and sister club to studio 54 on this west coast and transformed it into 1998-1999 into the glass cat which i know has had its ups and downs but i think he's worked through the industry with great experience. again, 4 years. also food and bev ranl -- 34 years. also, food and beverage experience. construction founding and operating different clubs and entertainment organizations. he's also been the former manager of a number of performers like the jets. those of you that may have grown up in the 1980's know a number of the hawaiian bands and the others that he brought to the area. also working with community-based organizations, he's a wealth of experience. i also think th
