mr. trumka and lee saunders and what you do every day to support working families and thank ms. roberts for her work as well. when we heard the decision yesterday, it was not a surprise, we thought back to a time when both political parties used to support strong labor unions. it was president eisenhower who said only a fool would try to deprive working men and women. it helped build the middle class of this country. unions are the most effective way to move people into the middle class and unions are the reason that working people have weekends off, safe working conditions, good wages, good benefits, employer-provided health insurance. united states ended child labor and provide family and medical leave. unions have been responsible for one of the biggest challenges we face in this country is how do we inclose family wages. today, union workers make on average 27% more than their nonunion counterparts. and all of these benefits that come as a result have not only benefited members of the union but benefited all working people. if we want a strong and growing middle class we nee
