leon spencer who is now in critical condition in san francisco. you might recall originally he was taken to highland hospital to the burn unit. behind me is mr. spencer's house here on 87th avenue. you see the two big pieces of wood, one on the car and one to the left of the house? those are the walls of the home blown out by the explosion. a neighbor's two digital video cameras captured the explosion around 8:00. one giant flash of light and it was over. now we see what happened to the house and neighbors said what the explosion sounded and felt like. >> sounded like an earthquake. i'm sit thing way in the house watching the tv and like a boom. >> it happened so fast the whole house rumbled and you could feel the heat. >> reporter: it blew out the walls of the second floor and brought it down like a house of cards. the homeowner, the 61-year-old spencer was renovating the second floor. sounds like the explosion was caused by something most of us have in our homes. >> it sounds from everything, from the neighbors accounts that it was a gas explosion. >> reporter: one neighbor concerned about the homeowner but mindful about her safety gingerly
