[applause] you'll be hearing from mr. mayor and supervisor wiener and also members of the community from the strychnine and district eight. the thing about drafting a budget is the budget cannot be drafted and be a budget that totally reflects the values that we have as a city unless we have the opportunity to hear directly from the citizens about what your priorities are. that's why this meeting is so important and it's so important that we are having the meeting not in city hall, even though it's important, but that we come out to the neighborhoods and we hear directly from people what is important to them and what their priorities are. from what i can tell you, even though there are many wonderful things happening throughout the city and many wonderful things happening here in district 9, it is also important to recognize there are specific

first of all, thank you, mr. mayor, supervisor farrell, and supervisor david chiu for providing this opportunity to hear our voice. sekula, thank you to the mayor's office and the board of supervisors for your profound division and wise decision to provide funding to workforce development in the high tech field, health care field, and youth programs. but, please, do not forget to provide funding to workforce development in some very basic vocational skills. skills training, such as housekeeping, gardening, a culinary, and other hospitality programs for those very limited english proficiency immigrants. please do not forget to provide funding to vocational skill training to seniors who are the most reliable work force in this society. let's work together to help those limited-english proficiency new immigrants live a happy and healthy life in america. let's work together to help seniors retain their dignity in this community. let's work together to make this community a better place to live. thank you for your consterna

supervisor cohen: good afternoon, mr. mayor. mr. president. we have a number of public safety challenges. how not to say that we don't of knowledge, are down and that the captain is doing a great job of pulling guns off the streets. but we have worked diligently to build strong relations with one another and work together to address some of these challenges. the staffing levels continue to be lower than what is needed to service the district. additionally, we are seeing more officers getting ready to retire in the future. are you supportive of increasing the number of police academy classes in this fiscal year? what is your strategy to make sure that stations have the resources they need to continue collaborative community policing strategy? thank you. mayor lee: thank you for that very important question. i know that it pertains to the whole city as well. i hear your concerns that if the bay view and other stations are not staffed, how they can succeed. i am a strong believer in having community leaders work directly with leaders to craft app

mr. mayor, please join us. mayor lee: good morning, everyone. welcome to san francisco. thank you for being here. wonderful place to be. as i just was listening to brad, you have an awful lot on your agenda today, but it is exciting to be here. exciting to be the mayor of san francisco when we are on the verge of working so well with our technology companies. it is very appropriate for you to be here in san francisco, evil and digital media and blending that with marketing and advertising. i think you have the the right place to be here, and i hope to be here for another 16 years. for this conference to be here and for me joining, whether i am the mayor or not, i think it is exciting to be part of this effort. i have been the mayor for a very short time, but i learned very quickly how important and how valuable the technology world is to how we do business in our city. not just because i announced it during my campaign and put out the 17-point plan and economic growth plan for our city that involved an but right there the technology and innovation world for our city to s
