mr. mayor lee, good morning. i want to thank my colleagues here this morning. we've all been together on this and we work very well together to keep the whole city moving. i want to thank the director of transportation. lots of things are happening in this city. a lot of things are planning for the future. but this is so exciting because this is something that people can actually see. they will see it and ride it and enjoy it from the moment the service begins. thank john hailey for this experience. i'm glad to be part of the mta. thank you very much. mr. mayor. and gentleman. mayor ed lee. i am very proud to have business, leading up to the completion of this project. now and also the bust will be displayed and a building that was created with love and professionalism. and all need to know in 2015, we will be celebrating the 100th university of the construction of (inaudible). the bust (inaudible). he can explain more in detail the life of the mayor and i would like to headline (inaudible). 1896, sutra became the mayor of san francisco and in ten years, (inaudible) the ability and willingness to spend the time to be with official and bureau crats. jewish came from japan and a jewish from russia, and this celebration was not only to sutra, but also the immigrants were failed and given to the lands of the united states. chinese and the ukraine and russian and immigrants are present today. all immigrants that are influenced about and delighted, (inaudible) never forget the roots. i would like to express an important thing here that the counsel general of germany and russia

so i'm here obviously on behalf of our mayor, mr. ed lee. i'm here tonight to celebrate with an actual proclamation. if we can just take a moment. can the individuals that are being honored tonight, can you just stand for a moment? [ applause ] >> [ cheers and applause ] >> i like how they stood to face the tv cameras and not anybody else. i appreciate that. because i want to recognize you. part of why we are here tonight is in recognition of all of you as leaders. and really when we are talking about the civil rights movement, it almost doesn't matter if that movement stops. and having you here representing what civil rights looks like today and the work that all of you have done is really important. so i just wanted to acknowledge that and i know it's why everyone else is why celebrating the work that you have done and the commitments that you have made to civil rights in the past today. that's a big deal. i want to acknowledge it and recognize that. this afternoon when i was speaking to the mayor about this event and he had a conflict whi

[ applause ] thank you, mr. mayor. it's so wonderful to see so much work happening in san francisco. now i have a great privilege to introduce a very important woman, not only to our project but to our district and to san francisco. in 2010 jane kim was elected to the board of supervisors for san francisco. all of the exciting new development that is taking place for our wonderful new neighborhood. the tjpa board recognizes supervisor kim's leadership and she was appointed to board of directors and also chair of our board. she is the reason we've made progress this far. she is thoughtful and caring and provides a lot of information and valuable input. supervisor kim has not only been a transbay help in our neighborhood but many other factors in our neighbors, pedestrian safety, bicycle safety and other things that involve this community. it is my great pleasure to introduce the chair of the tjpa board of directors supervisor kim. mr. mayor thank you four being here and our super supervisor norm lee. i'm proud of the advocacies and the work. back in 2006 i was not on the board of supervisors i was a legislative aid and there was a supplemental that came in the mid of the year and it was on housing you are worked with the community resident to make sure there was money for trianglesal youth and actually those original dollars helped to keep this project going. and i want to congratulate many of the housing advocates and all the year that followed to help keep this project going and keep it on the map to mercy housing for your advocacy work and reaching out touts community. of course, i want to thank the mayor's office of housing and your work to actually keep this project and many other projects going in the pipeline so we can see we're meeting our commitments for you fulfilling the needs of people who don't have adequate housing. and it's exciting about the transformation. we have lots of housing utilities and this is transforming this transformation we owe it to the residents we'

mr. chair. colleagues, this is legislation that i introduced along with mayor lee and i want to thank our co-sponsors supervisors kim, mar, and campos to help streamline the financial hardship application process for tenants at the rent board. as you may recall, earlier this year we passed legislation that requires certain soft story building to be seismically retrofitted to protect residents and workers in the event of a future earthquake. item 15 that we have in front of us are some technical amendments to that legislation, but item 14 is really the heart of what we are moving forward as new city policy today to. to ensure that we have legislation that will help tenants who have financial hardships to get better access to exemptions that are permitted them under the receiptction board. according to the receiptctionv board, the current hardship exemption process takes about five months to complete. three months for a hearing to be scheduled ask two months for a decision to be made. under this legislation hopefully we'll be reducing that timing by many months. the legislation we have in front of us w
