so with that, i'll ask president a police commission mazzucco to make brief remarks and mr. president, police commissioners, thank you for being in this commissioner tonight. >> thank you supervise campos and thank you for being apart of this meeting with the board of supervisors and the police commission. we meet every wednesday here at city hall and once a month out in the community so we focus on policy. this is an issue supervisor campos that's going to involve enforcement. this is our fourth meeting with reference to pedestrian and traffic safety in the last six months. we're notified every time there is an injury accident or pedestrian or bicycle accident, we're note notified and the location and we've expressed our concerns. a little background. in our three prior meetings, we've had presentations by the police department and asked for statistics and we've seen great progress and what is happening in the police department on their side of it and we want it hear from the public, but we've seen -- there seems to be a direct correlation and we learned this last wednesday

mr. mazzucco and mr. greg suhr and regarding terrorists and technology. thank you very much. i am asking to you read this asap. thank you very much. >> thank you very much. next speaker please. >> good evening commissioners. i am mark ruberg and a taxi driver and a spokesperson for the united taxi cap workers. i want to talk about a death of a child sophia lou the night of new eaves night in the tenderloin and the driver of the vehicle that struck her and her mother and brother was a driver for a company called hoover and you maybe familiar with uber, but the company put out the word after this accident took place that they would not be responsible for this accident because the driver was not providing service on their system at the time. the driver was logged in and by his admission was looking for a ride at the time. california public utilities commission calls these personal ride service tnc. we call them illegal taxis and that's an issue to be decided. it is required for them to have a million dollars in liability insurance but the statements are ambiguity and uber is not

mr. mazzucco for being here but thank you for the priority you have given to this issue. we know it's something you care about very deeply so with that i want to make sure that i give you the last word. >> i appreciate the fact that -- i really appreciate my captains and task force being here. i have a cio here that's here late at night and everybody's patience. i couldn't agree more with dr. marshal. we're all in this together. as i said, 97 percent of the tickets went to cars and it's probably not going to shake out like that. we'll try to do fair and equitable enforcement and treating everybody equally realizing that the cars are the most dangerous. so they're going to catch the most ticket. >> thank you chief. and know that we at the board also have to put our money where our mouth is so you, i think, have a commitment from the supervisors that we'll make sure you have the resources to do that's being asked of the police department and also the officer of citizens complaints. if i can take a motion to file this item and i want to reserve the possibility of coming back

mr. president and now if we can hear from commissioner loftus and commissioner loftus, thank you for the work you have been doing on this issue. >> thank you so much chair campos and president mazzucco. i have to take a moment first to thank everyone who came for public comment tonight. but it reminds me that i also came to public comment in these chambers in 2001 if you can imagine because i was complaining so much about how dangerous it was to cross the street on california street. that may friends said why don't you take yourself to city hall and do public comment. i think it was a dare. and i was one person and i told my story and my fellow commissioners will be tired of me telling this story but i was hit at nine and i survived and have learned to be really careful on san francisco streets but unfortunately sharing that story when i was one person, i didn't get any traction, but with all of you here with the bike coalition and walk ff is impactful. the chief calls it the new normal. we have a chief who brought every captain from the police staff who are all here to talk about this issue, examine and not only talk about it and admit when they've made mistakes and i find that gre
