miller-idriss. mr. butler, i saw iva has partnered with syracuse university to conduct your survey from verified veterans and you included some questions about extremism. what are your members telling you in that survey? >> thank you, sir. they're telling us a lot. this is the first time we have included this in there, and just for quick context, the survey is continuing to be ongoing. it's about 3500 respondents we have so far. and an overwhelming -- we have basically three questions you're referring to. one was do you think there's a serious problem with extremism in the military, in the post-9/11 veteran community, and have you personally witnessed extremism. each of those questions got over a third saying yes, they believe it exists within the military, it exists in the veteran community, and they personally witnessed it. so i think it really speaks to the fact that this is truly a problem that is not just those of us testifying here today, but the members of our community that are saying this is a
