mr. morgan how has this economy improved over the last four years under president obama? host: mr. organ, the last four years for charlotte. guest: 2008 was tough. we woke up on a monday morning in september with news that wachovia was going to be taken over by citigroup. a couple of days later wells fargo came in with a cleaner acquisition of wachovia. wachovia, at that time, employed 20,000 people in charlotte. today, wells fargo, having made charlotte their east coast headquarters, employs more people than that. it is a different mix, a different income level, certainly, and there is no way to sugar coat and the loss of corporate headquarters, but charlotte dodge the bullet. they needed charlotte, and we needed them. it hit us between the eyes that frankly our economy has always been fairly diverse. we had perhaps forgotten that. the perception have become that we were a one-industry town. it was in debt crisis that we began to focus on the energy sector and the opportunities that exist there, and we have been able to realize some of those opportunities with 4000 to 5000 jobs in

morgan stanley. he joins us on the fast line. sir, i hope you've been listening to the conversation. what are your expectations for tomorrow? does mr. bernanke deliver more quantitative easing? >> well, i think it's a much closer call than what your survey suggests and what price into markets. i think the chance of qe-3 already tomorrow is only about 50/50. as if i can't make up my mind, but i think there are clear pros and cons. i think the pros are, first of all, there's what i call this bbb economic expansion is becoming ever more bumpy. we saw that in the ism and the payrolls last week. and also the fed clearly misses on both parts of the mandate. unemployment is high, inflation is headed below 2% soon. these are the pros. but what are the arguments again? well, first of all, financial conditions have eased recently, they have not tightened as they did before the last two rounds of quantitative easing. so we have easier financial conditions and largely due to europe getting better. and the second reason in there, i think is the main argument against qe-3 tomorrow is that the fed wants to stay out of the election campaign. this
