mr. murphy, let me ask you about the two stops apparently that the police van made while mr. gray was inside. are you being informed at all by the police or any other authoritative sources what the stops were about and why another person actually was in the van as well, albeit separated i understand by another divider but another suspect of some kind was in the van as well in between the time mr. gray got in the van and mr. gray came out of the van? >> we have some information about that from people who saw all or part of that first stop, but we have not yet heard from any witness who saw the second or the third stop. we think there were at least three. there may have been one pomore. the police have not reliably reported on that part of the case either and it's a puzzle because on the one happened, we sincerely believe that mayor is trying to get to the bottom of it. why wouldn't she want to? she's a child of a civil rights leader, of great respect. she is an experienced leader in the community. she's a lawyer who used to be a defense lawyer. and so she very much wants to ge

mr. murphy, thanks for joining us. this violence that we're seeing right now and that we saw on saturday night, sunday morning, it's exactly what the family of freddie gray said they didn't want. do you know are they aware of what's happening right now? >> well we don't know. they're safer and sound where think live think -- where they live and this is isolated in one part of the city and it looks like it's just teenagers and we hope it doesn't get worse than that frankly, because freddie gray's family does not want this. >> yeah i hear you that it might be just teenagers, although you know teenagers can certainly cause harm as well and as the baltimore police department spokesperson captain kowalcheck announced, one of the seven officers injured is unresponsive. others have broken bones. obviously freddie gray's family very upset about the violence over the weekend. one imagines they would feel the same way about this. this all comes hours after freddie gray at the young age of 25 was laid to rest. there must be conce

mr. murphy our deep condolences on the death of mr. gray. >> thank you very much. >> we don't know what happened to him. except that we do know that his spine was 80% separated from his neck and he passed away. we know at 8:39 in the morning he was on the streets he saw police and ran away. what have you been told? >> we know more than that. we know that he died the first time in police custody, died twice. second thing we know is that he was injured in police custody, wasn't injured before the encounter. and third, his cries for help were ignored. and demands for medical attention ignored by police. we know he wasn't dealt with the in the vehicle. he was put in leg irons and put back in the vehicle a second time without being dealt with. and rendered him more helpless. >> did mr. gray have issue was his back or his neck prior to this incident? >> none that we know of. >> there has been internet chatter he might have had an accident or operation. could you put rumors to rest tonight? >> absolutely. there is no such information. >> why

mr. murphy? >> we have our own sources at this point.rty to expose those sources, but i am confident that that information is reliable. >> something, obviously, grievous happened to him. even in that video we are watching you can see at one point the police dragging him. it appears that mr. gray's legs are limp. so something happened that we can't see on the video. what are witnesses telling you? >> well the witnesses stories at this point on matters as critical as a videoly show everything. now, of course the video has no sound and we think it won't have. the witnesses will be important to fill in that part of what happened. but you could see him screaming in pain as he has been dragging or as he is being dragged to the police vehicle and that's problematic. you also see his legs are appear will be limp and not moving. that also suggests the injury may have already happened at that point. until we see the autopsy report and await the outcome of the police investigation and what i understand is the simultaneous investigation by the chief

mr. murphy thanks for joining us. i want to get your initial reaction to the verdict. what was going through your mind as you heard each count read, guilty, guilty, 30 times? >> i didn't think that there was much of a chance of anything other than guilty 30 times could happen since there was an admission at the beginning of the trial by the defense that in fact dzhokhar was part of the perpetrators of the bombing on boylston street. so this was expected i think. >> cnn reporters say that the defendant had no reaction as the judge was reading the verdict. as this case moves into the penalty phase, what do you want to see happen to him? >> i'm sorry. i would like to see him spend his life in prison jake because there is -- the west not just the united states but the west is at war with radical islam right now. i don't know if everybody in washington has got that but it's trickled down to the neighborhoods of boston. i was there that day. it was an act of war, perpetrated on innocent civilians, children elderly, and there's a different value system here at work in the rad

mr. murphy. you know congressman came in cummings who came in who was on the street. the clergy from every side of the community, who have come together been out in the streets, speaking all day long. so the seeds were planted today. and the police were doing an unbelievable job, but you've got to give it up to the communiy. if you remember when i spoke last night, i said unequivocally, you know this is not the baltimore i know. there are 600,000 residents in that city. and right now, you've seen two people arrested this evening. and what is there a scattering of a couple hundred people on the streets, who are going to be defiant no matter what was going on. so baltimore needs to get a lot of props. the leadership in baltimore needs a lot of props for step stepping up to the plate. so am i disappointed right now there are some people on the street who are choosing to make sure they paint the picture of what their future is going to look like tomorrow morning from behind a jail cell? yeah i'm disappointed. but am i really really pleased with and proud to say that i was

mr. murphy: mr. speaker, today i'm introducing the enhancing veterans treatment act, legislation that elame nates bureaucratic hurdles so veterans using v.a. can continue to receive the lifesaving meant cal health education they access on duty. currently the v.a. requires the veteran to switch that medication when the drug is not included in the drug's formulary regardless if the drug is working. the instead the v.a. will put the veteran on different medication and requires them to fail first before they switch back or the vet must go through an appeals process. instead, this bill simply says if it works, keep it. this bill allows seamless continuity of medications and leaves any decision of change up to the doctor. it is not enough to just have the d.o.d. share a medication list because when it comes to psycho tropic medication, the doctor needs the full spectrum of choices. with 22 veterans dying each day by suicide. these veterans don't have time to wait to get their medication for their depressio
