mr. nasser. on behalf of our president , the majority of our members rely on the success of the industry. this is a topic of importance to us. welcome this discussion and thank the committee for having it. about to back up and talk , what is the problem we are trying to fix? the problem is we have lost manufacturing jobs over recent years and that wages and working conditions for workers have dropped. you see a lot of manufacturers that do not hire workers directly. they use temp agencies. we see companies that spend millions to intimidate workers into not joining unions. these have to be part of the solution. we have to look at these policies in a holistic way. have tax policies that complement trade policies. there are a lot of problems that have to get x -- get fixed. let us talk about trade. is that our model needs to be changed. if you look at our free-trade agreements, we never had a labor chapter that has improved the standards for workers in the country. and nafta, there is no labor chapt
