mr. pallone. >>, for thank you, thank you chairwoman degette. we are here today to conduct oversight of the medicare advantage program. nearly 27 million to enrolled in the medicare advantage plan which is run by private health insurance companies. while the program offer seniors flexibility in the way that they receive the medical care, it's important to ensure that medicare remains financially viable and seniors remain to receive the high quality care that they deserve. i'm upset by recent claims that medicare advisory plans are facing barriers to mounting necessary medical care. raising claims that insurance companies are denying beneficiaries to access to treatment and imposing burdensome requirements that delay care, and proper claim denials, and increased use the prior authorization in preventing beneficiaries from receiving the care that they need. while most plans appear to be acting responsibly, some are not. these bad actors are costing taxpayers money, and more importantly jeopardizing the health care seniors. this oversight hearing i
