and this is a picture of a guy named patrick murphy mr. destructo. he was the demolition guy in g troop, and this is what he told me about one of his care packages. it was his birthday cake. and mom dutifully put the candle on the birthday cake. and it apparently tasted like frosting. next slide please. no story about the 11th armored cavalry regiment in vietnam. complete without a story of combat the dog he served longer with the regiment than any other trooper. he was born on the ship going over to vietnam in august of 1966 and when the regiment stood down in april 71 he made it home and he lived with the regiment he had battle stars from all of the major campaigns junction city cedar falls war zone c and d troopers gave him their silver stars and purple hearts before they left. they thought so much of combat the dog. and i wrote this story not too long ago in our regimental newsletter and i got an email from a guy who said when i read that combat the dog lived i broke down and cried. because he was my buddy. and when i came home i thought for sure
