mr. peskin? >> supervisor peskin: thank you madam president and president and colleagues. it is my honor to command and acknowledge the incredible work of officer joshua olson. i think you all will recall a few weeks ago, on friday, june 29th, central station responded to an incident where a distraught individual was sitting on the edge of the high-rise building on california street by nob hill threatening to jump. seeing the individual was agitated by some police officers being present, the police scent a negotiating officer, joshua olson, to the scene. after two and a half incredible hours of talking to him, he was able to convince that individual to come down and not to kill himself and receive mental health care. the pictures that the captain scent me during that were really remarkable. i want to thank you for keeping me apprised during that period of time. so i just wanted to -- i asked the captain about officer olson and he informed me that he was born and raised here in the city and served in the united states army for seven years. after graduating the fish and game

mr. peskin. >> thank you, madam president. colleagues, what a strange trip this one has been. i want to start, actually, by going back to last year when mayor lee and myself actually steve kava and my chief-of-staff did all of the work. convened the traffic task force which was some $22 billion in need between now and 2045 as it relates to transportation funding both on the capital side and the operating side. in my incarnation as the chair of the county transportation authority, have been very serious about meeting one of those goals, which is a stable source of local funding in the amount of $100 million a year between now and 2045 to match federal and state grants, appropriations, together with the half billion dollar general obligation bond that the voters saw fit to pass in 2014. and to that end, i came to this board with the transit sustainability fee increase and i thank you for the unanimous vote on that. it should ink out $10 million a year towards that $100 million that we need and then supervisor kim came up with something that has been popping up around the united

mr. thomas. >> good afternoon, chair peskin, members of the transportation authority commission. john thomas, deputy director for public works, city engineer. i just want to talk to you a little bit about our coordination efforts and conclude with a brief discussion on other elements affecting our construction. so public works is generally responsible for paving and sewer projects, curb ramps, and things of the like. m.t.a., as you know, has transit projects, signal projects, and street scape, sewer and water projects. many of them are combined projects led by public works, sometimes by m.t.a., and sometimes by the p.u.c. so we share these responsibilities across agencies. the coordination for the projects starts at the beginning at the planning stages. we have our committee for utility liason and generally brings in the outside utility companies to make them aware of our projects and they see our five-year look ahead of projected projects. we have inter-agency project coordination. we have regular monthly meetings the directors for public works and the m.t.a. and periodically th
