mr. i was harvey pratt. which means i'm going to be a chief. i was born in a little house in reno, i wasn't born in a hospital. and my mother's aunts all took care of her. i was a veil baby or cloak bearer. they said, oh, look at him, he wants to be a chief, so they gave me that name. i felt like that was something special for me. i always admired my school teachers. schoolteachers to me, my first grade teacher, i never forgot her name, was mrs. jones. and then mrs. wyatt and then mrs. herbie. they said harvey, you have some skill. i thought everybody could draw as a child. i thought everybody could do something. and it dawned on me that adults have to tell children that they're special or they have a special talent. oh, you sing pretty or you dance pretty or whatever it is, you know. adults have to tell children that so they recognize that. to me that always impacted me enough that i would tell my children those things. you know, if they had a skill or a talent, i would try to reinforce that to them and with other children that i would meet. s
