mr. president.o looking at all of the information across the united states we do see improvement across all the large metros. i know you know that we've been talking about the new york metro area, new york city, rhode island, connecticut, long island and really we do start to see improvement there and we see improvement even now in rhode island and connecticut. the detroit metro is doing quite well with significant declines now. new orleans is nearly back to their baseline of where they started for new infections. we also are seeing improvements in chicago and boston and that has been a great concern for us over the last several weeks. they appear now to be flattening. both also philadelphia and houston, atlanta, nashville, baltimore, indianapolis and sanity louis also appear to be flattening. the d.c. metro area we don't see a decline yet. i hope all of you are still social distancing, doing everything that you can. i want to remind everybody of two points. when we brought up and the president put

mr. president. thank you for outlining how well we are doing in a series of metro areas. what also has been encouraging for those of you who are watching epidemic curves every day, and i'm sure you are and watching them, how epidemiologists like to look at the curves, for the first time in the united states, we're starting to level on the log rhythmic phase, like italy did about a week ago. and so this gives us great heart that not only in specific places, but we're starting to see that change. obviously a lot of that is driven by the improvement in new york city. remember, for a long time, they were over 50% of our cases and 50% of our new cases. that has dramatically changed because of the impact of what the citizens of new york and new jersey and across connecticut and now rhode island are doing to really change the course of this pandemic and really change the trajectory of new cases. we're seeing that what many states and metro areas were experiencing as twofold and four fold. four fold increase

mr. president, mr. vice president. we're going to go through these quickly, because i know you have them, and many of you have already spoken to them on television. next slide, please. this is a very important slide. it talks about the gate keeping, on the gate-keeping criteria moving into phase one. it's very much related to what you just saw about influenza-like illness. and the united states has been tracking influenza-like illnesses through the centers for disease control for years. both the state and public health officials are used to watching this. county health officials are used to watching it, and frankly, every family around the united states know house to access on the cdc website. in order to get up to date information for the communities. it also looks at a syndroi syndd a program that can be utilized for a lot of illnesses, but this case will be utilized for respiratory diseases. we're tracking the number of case, and it must have a downward trajectory for 14 days. and a downward trajectory in the number

mr. president. okay. supervisor fewer? >> supervisor fewer: yes. today, i'm introducing legislation that will require the city to close county jail number four within six months and a deadline for reduction of the jail population in order to safely close the jail while preventing transfers out of county like santa reeta jail. county jail four number is a dilapidated inhumane facility jail. its plumbing, sewage, kitchen, and laundry facilities are all in disrepair. if the department of public works, department of real estate, and independent seismic engineers have determined that the hall of justice building needs to be decommissioned due to health and safety concerns, including health and safety concerns at the jail. this will set us on a path to closing county jail number four ahead of hall of justice, developing a plan to reduce the population, and close the jail is absolutely the responsible thing to do for both incarcerated people and the deputy sheriffs and jail health employees that work there.
