[ roll call ] [ roll call ] we have quorum. >> thank you, mr. quintanilla. i am going to skip over the chair's report, pending the arrival of commissioner yee, who actually has a brief presentation that he would like to make under the chair's report, and ask you, mr. quintanilla, to read the executive director report item number three. >> clerk: item three, executive director's report, this is information item. >> this month i'd like to first start by thanking several of our commissioners for joining myself, staff on the t.a., and a set of officials and planners from the san mateo c.m.a., county congestion agency, on a study tour to los angeles, where we visited the l.a. metro express lanes, heard from their staff and their policymakers regarding decision making at a similar juncture to where we are in our planning for potential managed lanes here in the bay area. that was a full-day tour. we were very appreciative of the staff for taking

[roll call] >> clerk: we have quorum. >> supervisor peskin: thank you, mr. quintanilla. i will go to the chair's report. colleagues, yesterday we kicked off transit week in the city with a few bumps in the road, so to speak. i actually think it's a really good thing to have public officials see firsthand how public infrastructure is or is not working in our districts and to hear from transit riders directly about what their experiences are like, problems and all, and it helps us improve and appreciation this extensive system that keeps the city running for hundreds of thousands of people every day, so i want to thank my colleagues who joined the rally here at city hall yesterday to talk about investment in improving our extensive system, especially or l.r.v.s -- our l.r.v.s, who don't seem to be running on time, and regional ferries and b.a.r.t., and of course my personal favorite, cable cars, that visitors from all over the world come and enjoy. we know with equitiable and affordable

mr. quintanilla? >> yes. >> chair a. peskin: commissioner yee? > commissioner n. yee: could you speak a little bit more to the bicycle education piece? the second bike item. >> yes, i will invite the project manager from sfmta. > commissioner n. yee: in terms of how we choose these schools and sustaining. what happens when you do the initial program? you only reach so many kids and then the following year you would have other kids. so what happens then? >> good morning, commissioners, my name is maryam cerrell from sfmta. our goal is to roll out these programs in a sustained way throughout the school district. right now we don't have that level of funding but we have a lot of things we are still learning in terms of logistics of operating these programs. so for now, we have a smaller number of projects and there are -- i can pull up some of the factors that go into making the specific selections. but the idea is to, for instance, with the elementary school program which is fairly new, we have only done three elementary school program classes so far, both physical
