. >> and mr schmidt said not to look at this as being a burden. how do we move forward, who is creating a roadblock when it comes to an agreement? >> we all are. we have a few countries and states in the lead. we look at korea, california, germany, denmark, bangladesh. these are places in the north and the south making major steps. 80% emissions reductions targeted by 2050 as a national, regional, state roadmap. this is something which we haven't figured out the language for. we don't have a price on carbon, whether it's through attacks or cap and trade in most of the world. china has been important set of trials, california has one, the new england states, united states, europe has carbon markets, but we are not each seeing that process take off around the world. we need a common financial language, carbon language - it isn't perfect. but it is a tool we need to allow the dialogue, that we need to happen in lima and to get ready with major statements and commitments. >> with that said, what does a solid solution, plan, look like, looking ahead? a

mr. cosby's attorney, john p. schmidt, said about stacy brown's interview. he said, "mr. brown identified himself as a freelance reporter for a number of african-american media outlets, which prompted mr. cosby's comment regarding the african-american media. mr. brown did not indicate that he was interviewing mr. cosby for publication, did not say that he was reporting for the "new york post," and did not tell mr. cosby that the conversation was being recorded. in a discussion of journalistic standards mr. brown failed to adhere to the most basic standards of his profession." what's your response? >> well, what i have to say is if a reporter's calling bill cosby today it's not to make small talk. it's for an interview. and at the beginning of the conversation i said to him i know you're not giving interviews. however, since he answered the phone, can i ask you some questions. i think it's preposterous. we went through this last year with the "new york post" and bill cosby. i offered the story to the "post" as well. it's such an important story. keep in mind too, don, real

schmidt. he is joining us from lima, peru. and daniel, professor of nj at the university -- energy at the university of california at berkeley. great to have you with us. >> pleasure to be here. >> mr schmid. i know there's a bit of a delay, are you more encouraged or discouraged by the process of the talks in lima? > we came into the talks with a major announcement by europe to cut emissions and for countries to put money in. we hoped the momentum would carry forward in lima, and we'd come out with an outcome putting us in a solid path to get the agreement. >> there seems to be a giant threat that we failed to act. why has the progress been so slow. there's a number of reasons. we began in the mid 90s. it's a global problem with a global treaty. the biggest economies need to step forward. while europe has done that, europe has not. we looked at china, they looked at us, we looked at india, there was a lot of people wasted. now that the u.s. and china laid down different but agreed upon targets, there's a new possibility. i'm not surprised there has not been progress. what the u.s. and china did was a few weeks old. it's opened up a new path what you see is negotiating a new landsc
