mr. speaker. i rise today to honor the life and memory of dr. richard howard gam bell of sheffield, alabama, who passed away just a few weeks ago on christmas day. howard searched as a giant in the field of -- served as a giant in the field of dentistry where he was the president of the academy of general dentistry, president of the alabama a.g.d. chapter. additionaly, howard devoted 17 years of public service to the state of alabama. serving as mayor of sheffield, police and fire commissioner, city councilman and county commissioner. mr. gosar: however i'm sure he will be most proud of his record, serving our country in the united states air force. but despite these impressive accomplishments, he didn't live to rack up titles or positions. he lived to fulfill his missions of making a difference in the lives of his patients and his community. in that regard, howard was a huge success. on a personal note, i'm incredibly proud to follow in howard's footsteps as a dentist, to answer the call of public service and call him a personal friend. his life long contributions to advancing the
