[applause] mr. takano: thank you. it's very clear to me that this supreme court needs to be checked before our democracy gets wrecked. good afternoon. when the supreme court took the extraordinary action of overturning roe v. wade, they were unrestrained with regard to rolling back the constitutional and fundamental rights of women. we should expect that they will be unrestrained when it comes to rolling back the rights of other groups of americans, indeed all americans. simply put, the supreme court has gone rogue and has become a radical institution that does not reflect the will of the people. that's because for decades republicans made their politics about taking over the judicial branch of government. they've only won the positive vote once in the last eight elections, yet they have appointed the supermajority currently threatening to strip you of your rights and me of mine. we need the judiciary act of 2021. congress must be allowed to expand -- congress needs to expand the number of justices on court to 13, to

mr. takano: thank you. this provides a much more supportive living situation for veterans trying to escape homelessnessment currently there are roughly 105 veterans residing in these shelters and over 550 unique veterans have been admitted to the program. it is proven tock successful -- it has proven to be a successful model to get veterans moved to housing or treatment programs. the change in congressman lieu's amendment will make -- we'll make is especially significant. v.a. has determined that under current law, it is restricted from using funds from its leases and easements to pay for critical improvements for veteran safety and well-being, like security for ctrs. this amendment would also free up funding for permanent supportive housing, to be built on the campus, which mean more veterans would be off the streets and into a home to call their own, with the v.a. care that they need close by. i yield back, madam chair. the speaker pro tempore: the gentleman from washington reserves. the gentleman from al
