tillis. >> thank you. welcome all of you and thank you for the work that you're doing. mr. mcbe waterwaters you made a additional comment about what you think would be helpful, could you get specific about your recommendations? >> in my oral statement there are two recommendations. credit unions want to serve the unserved and the underserved. there is a provision in the federal credit union act that says that only multiple common bond credit unions can add under served areas. since credit unions want to serve underserved areas, want to serve the unserved, it would be great if the federal credit union act was amended to allow credit unions to could what they want to do. credit unions are not subject to the cra and one reason they're not subject to the cra is that they actually want to extend credit to those individuals and those businesses that the cra would require them to. they want to do it anyway. so it would be nice to amend the federal credit union act accordingly. there is a request for vendor authority. all the other regulators at this table have the authority to reg

mr. tillis: thank you, mr. president. mr. president, i'm here for what i hope will be the last time to talk about a subject that i've come to the floor and discussed virtually every week we've been here since i went and visited a man who's been in a turkish prison since october 7, 2016. his name is andrew brunson. he's a presbyterian minister from north carolina that in 2016 under the emergency orders in turkey, president erdogan ended up ordering the arrest of many people, many of probably were involved in the illegal you -- coup attempt. if evidence demonstrates they were, they should be held accountable for their actions. but unfortunately thousands of people, journalist, people of faith, a number of other people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time like a nasa scientist who already spent two and a half years in prison, they were also arrested. they were also put in prison. and in the case of pastor brunson, he spent almost 17 months in a turkish prison in a cell designed for eight people that had 21 people in it.
