mr. torres that the maintenance will be better, and without the workers i don't see how. >> thank you. >> i am grace martinez, i am an organizer for ace. i organize typically around foreclosure issues. but previous to that i did organized work in public housing for years in the southeast sector. and a member from seiu made a good point, where are the residents in this. do we have poor planning for the residents to way until they start. i am sure that all of these nonprofit developers are great, i don't know. can we show that they will have a population that is diverse as the current housing. and question of how people will have access to these units. for a major plan like this, and there was a lot of concerns in question that were only provided today for my understanding. for a major impact that will impact 5-6,000 families in san francisco, there is a lot of, i don't know happening. that's unfortunate. and it's amazing that we don't have public housing residents out here. if you were to knock on the door right now, and ask someone if they knew about this project, what would they say? the

mr. torres. or -- yeah, please come forward. the question is really around questions about the layoffs and what specific jobs are looked at. those 100 jobs. and is there a transition plan? a few years ago when it was propose to lay off workers here in the building, maintenance staff here in the building of t the -- there was talk about moving them to other existing jobs in the city, and i wonder what that plan and which jobs are discussed. >> there won't be any reduction in jobs for about 15 months. and then it will be as properties spin off in the rad program. we are working with the bargaining units. we are having meetings with them. since we are still under negotiations with the bargaining units, we have identified classifications for those bargaining sessions. there will be some jobs in about 15 months and then some more about a year later. we are looking at all options for those positions, including matching up classifications at the housing authority with city jobs. and also while we are shrinking on the public housing sid

mr. torres certainly does not appear to meet any objective for seeking death. sierra would have been 17 years old now. her father says while a death conviction can't bring his daughter back, he considers it the only just punishment. >> i think if he's found guilty of this crime, myself, my family, feels it should be the ultimate penalty for, for taking, you know, something so dear to us. >> reporter: he says he thinks about his daughter every day. the big question now is whether there will be a change of venue or whether this case will be held here or at another location. he tells me he would like to see the case tried here in san jose. reporting live in san jose, marianne favro, nbc bay area news. >>> we have new details on the sierra lamar case. she disappeared on march 16, 2012. torres was taken into custody nearly a year later on february 25, 2013. then this past february garcia torres pleaded not guilty after he was indicted by a grand jury. today the district attorney decided to seek the death penalty. torres is due back in court on june 11. >>> and a fol

[applause] >> as a dad -- torres parents are here and i have to imagine they are awfully proud of this remarkable young lady and we really appreciate you taking the time to introduce me. i want to welcome everybody here to the white house. i want to thank members of congress who are here. we have got leaders from america's sports and medical communities especially young people here like tory who did such a good job sharing her story today. all across the country there are millions of young athletes just like tory who spend their weekends and summers on baseball diamonds, soccer fields and put in extra practice to make the varsity or maybe earn a college scholarship. most of them are not as good as tory was at that her sport. i certainly wasn't although i have the same enthusiasm. and for so many of our kids sports are just something they do. they are part of their identity. they may be budding scientists are entrepreneurs or writers that they are also strikers and linebackers and point guards and that's a good thing.
