nbc bay area's robert honda joins us from woodside, and so has mr. vance arrived? no, he has not arrived. we understand he's coming from arizona and will be here around 7:00. so right now you can't really call this a rally anymore? a lot of people have been waiting. about a dozen people or so are here at a familiar spot on woodside road, in front of the pioneer barn hotel, where they have stuck it out to get a glimpse of the candidate. now, this is the spot where people gathered to see the gop presidential candidate, donald trump, as he headed to a fund raiser. but as you can imagine, he drew a much larger crowd than jd vance did about 50 to 75 people at the peak have been rallying in support for the trump-vance ticket. as vance heads to his own fundraiser this evening. the crowd has been relatively small but loud and enthusiastic, and when we asked people about being out here to support the gop ticket, many told us it's the economy. i support the whole agenda. immigration, crime. i hope to get rid of, you know, a lot of the crime that we've seen. economics is a bi

unlike his opponent senator vance, mr. vince is likely to lead on their relatability -- mr. ikely to wean on his relatability. jd vance used to refer to himself as a never trumper in 2016 but today senator vance is more closely aligned with with trump's political views. as senator he has a conservative record republicans hope will appeal to their young and midwestern base. let's talk now about what we can expect from the night ahead. i'm joined by our senior digital correspondent. first of all, the big news around the world today, the incident in the least. iran launching over 180 missiles at israel. to what extent is that going to impact what we will see later tonight? >> i think it is going to inject itself into this political debate. it probably will be one of the first questions asked of the candidates. jd vance is a u.s. senator so he has dealt with international affairs and foreign relations in his role in washington. tim walz does not tend to talk about international affairs as much on the campaign trail. he seems to avoid those sorts of questions when he does talk to
