mr. wenstrup: i would like to yield 90 seconds to my colleague from ohio, mr. johnson, i reserve the balance of my time. the chair: the gentleman has 60 econds to yield. mr. johnson: thank you, mr. speaker. today i rise in strong support of the amendment offered by dr. wenstrup. this much-needed amendment will blunt the job losses that are coming to the hardworking men and women who are currently working to try to clean up that atomic energy commission plant there in piketon. i understand the committee's attempts and i appreciate the committee's attempts. unfortunately the $15 million that they have put in this appropriation is still not enough to stop the hundreds of layoffs that will come if nothing more is done. nor is it enough to keep this critical cleanup project on track so that the property can be developed to create more jobs, to replace the ones that are going to be lost anyway. that's why this amendment is so necessary. it reroutes money from renewable and overhead costs to pay for the cleanup work that we promised to the piketon, ohio, folks and we

mr. stewart: thank you, dr. wenstrup. i would like to yield three minutes to mr. steven king, a colleague and the gentleman from iowa. he sits on the agriculture, small business and judiciary committee and has been a strong defender of israel. mr. king: i thank the gentleman for yielding and leading on this discussion about the sovereignty and safety and protection of israel, our strongest ally in the middle east, where there are property rights, where they are available to everyone, an israeli citizen whether they happen to be of jewish descent or any other descent. and the allies that israel has been deserve that support and stronger support. and so many messages that have been sent from this administration to the contrary. we need to be standing on the floor of the house of representatives sending a message to israel, benjamin netanyahu and members of the israeli defense force, we stand with you, israel. any nation that is surrounded by enemies and tunnels that are dug through and kill innocent people, celebrate that, any government that is formed for the purpo

mr. chairman, my one point i would make about the point you made with dr. wenstrup was about how much does it cost per patient, what the hell does the information that they publish in their budget books? there's a particular line item that says priority group one and the cost associated with that patient. maybe i don't understand what that mean, but i interpret that to mean exactly what the question was you asked. >> then why can't they answer the question? >> i don't know. i could have pulled that number out in a second of the budge. >> you need to go work for v.a. >> from a vfw perspective, we certainly understand everything that you're talking about, chairman miller. but our members are frustrated. i just returned from our national convention in st. louis where the membership passed a resolution insisting that congress pass that bill and send it to the president before the august version. and -- recess. and the frustration comes from the fact that this was a major priority two months ago for each chamber to get together and outline its priorities, get them down o

mr. chairman. >> dr. wenstrup, you're recognized for five minutes. >> thank you, mr. chairman. and i thank all of you for being here tonight, and as i sit here and listen to your testimony, one of the things that comes to my mind is somewhere along the line through oyour parents or somewhere, someone taught you about doing the right thing and about being able to look in the mirror at the end of the day and knowing you're doing the right thing and i applaud you for that and know that you're respected by those that matter and those that don't, they have their own issues. and i appreciate that. you know, i served in iraq as a doctor, and we had something that you mentioned tonight, a sense of mission. we had a shared sense of mission and everyone was on the same page. we were a reserve ewe thit. we all come from private practice. there's no room for slacking and the patients were the first priority and you work through the night if you have to, and you take shifts sleeping and there's an esprit de corps, and wouldn't you love to be able to practice in an environment like that ever
