mrs. clinton. trish: leslie, we are getting reports that democrats are starting to get nervous, understandably so when you look headway bernie sanders is making against hillary clinton. they're starting to wonder whether or not they need another person in the ring. there is talk of joe biden. do you think it is going to happen? >> no. i don't know what democrats you're talk to, i and my otherdemocrats we're very confident hillary will be standing on platform. people i know senator sanders who i like personally and have great respect for, it is not a fear. he is certainly a democrat. he represents more left side of the democrats. if you look at poll numbers, even though trump is going to town, i mean she has trumped trump in the polls. looks like one she has most to worry about is jeb bush. we're a long way away. i do agree with rich on this, which is, it is not -- american people, honestly i don't even think they care what is in the emails. people already think of her as guilty aren't going to volt

mrs. clinton sent at least four e-mails from her personal account that contained classified information. the government watchdogs making the discovery after reviewing just 40 e-mails in clinton's inbox meaning that many more of the clinton e-mails, some 30,000 of them may contain potentially confidential secret or top secret information. the state department does not believe any of the e-mails she sent contained classified material, and mrs. clinton herself insisting exactly that back in march. >> i did not e-mail any classified material to anyone on my e-mail. there is no classified material. so i'm certainly well aware of the classification requirements, and did not send classified material. lou: but, of course, she destroyed those e-mails and so we at this point have only her word. >>> the "new york times" first broke the story in today's paper, and then significantly altered their report online after the clinton campaign complained about their article. i'll have a lot more to say about that in my commentary here tonight. >>> the obama administration continuing its aggressive defense o

mrs. clinton and all white mix of young men low income adults married mothers and politically moderate women were shown as attacking clinton, scandal and rich and out of touch. as the republican conducted the focus group put it, she's got an open wound and part of our job is to pour salt in it. i'm joined by perry bacon. we read this article now, it talks about her being somewhat add in saying she was dead broke and everyone knew clintons were worth tons of money, it's a matter of going out there and giving the speech. so is that where they think they have got the gold here to get her, that she doesn't know she's rich? >> i think the broader point is, it's true that american electrets, so then the jeb bush or rubio, whoever the candidate is while doing the dirty work and dragging up hilary's negative and the campaign and built the idea of romney too rich. >> you know, the republican haves a gut instinct to whack it. trump said she's terrible and horrible and is that gut smart? >> i -- that's not smart and quite frankly, i'm skeptical about coming out of these focus groups and attacking hilla

mrs. clinton put national security at risk when she used her private server. today's release of 2200, heavily redacted documents means the public now has access to just about 12% of the 55,000 pages that clinton turned over to the state department, but that's short of the 15% that a court ruled had to be released by now. the state department is excusing itself and blaming the delay on extra scrutiny by u.s. intelligence agencies concerned about clinton's possible compromise of classified information. to give you a sense of just how redacted some of these e-mails are, you're looking at an e-mail with a former clinton press secretary. it has the entire body of the e-mail itself obscured. only thing that we could read is the sign-off which says, as you see there, hope this helps. i assure you it doesn't, not in the least. the clinton campaign hopes to take focus off the disclosures by releasing eight years of mrs. clinton's tax returns and a letter from her doctor that attests she is fit to serve as president. critics questioning whether there is a double standard

mrs. clinton: real value comes from long-term growth, not short-term.rofit it comes from building companies, not stripping them. creating good jobs, not eliminating them. from singing workers as assets not costs to be cut. american business needs to break free from the tyranny of today's earnings report to do what they can do best -- innovate, invest and build tomorrow's prosperity. mark: is this bundle of proposals good policy and politics? john: she is trying to find something that is not too far left. the capital gains proposal will complicate the tax code but she has people in wall street who like this proposal. she might have found it in the democratic context. what you will get hammered on the end is the executive compensation thing. when the obama administration tried to mess around with it, there was bipartisan outrage with the government getting involved with that. mark: i think it is good politics for sure. on a macro level, she is talking about the economy. on a micro level every one of these things she is proposing is positive. the danger is

mrs. clinton? take him out. the opposition research. what a surprise the "new york times" is running marco rubio anti- opposition research. wears a coming from? it's not coming from our team. speeding tickets, really? a fishing boat that they call a speedboat. that he had a big mortgage and a lot a student debts or its constant. they have identified him as one of the greatest threats and are methodically moving to reduce him. rick santorum should be told he is most likely of anyone in this race. he is an italian catholic from western pennsylvania and sadly he is a steelers fan. [laughter] >> i have barnstormed with rick when he wrote his book blue-collar conservatives are dime catholic. he is catholic. he is a couple of years learned-- youngers than i am. he speaks to reagan democrats. in a way that very few people did. he won iowa for a reason for people like him in a small room. the national news media does not like rick santorum but he won pennsylvania twice or he only lost of the venue because it was the blowout year 2006. watch him

mrs. clinton: i want to say a word about what is in the news today and, uh, it is because there have been lot of inaccuracies as congressman cummings made clear this morning. maybe the heat is getting to everybody. we all have a responsibility to get this right. i have released 55,000 pages of e-mails. i have said repeatedly that i will answer questions before the house committee. we are all accountable to the american people to get the facts right and i will do my part. john: do we all love responsibility to get this right? on a scale from one to godzilla, how do you view with this? mark: it looks like a three but it is a potential to go back up to a six or seven or higher. if there is a criminal investigation -- it is a disaster for her campaign. there is no doubt the new york times initial report is not 100% correct. john: the new york times started by alleging -- the initial story said there was a criminal investigation. now it is not necessarily the case of the moment. mark: there is clarity -- the relationship with the new york times and the clinton campaign will not be any better t

mrs. clinton: no other presidential candidate was secretary of state when this process started. put together a thorough, deliberative, evidence-based process to evaluate the environmental impact and other considerations of keystone. so i will refrain from commenting because i had a leading role in getting the process started. i think we have to let it run its course. john: putting aside the keystone innovation there, on the climate plan more broadly, good policy? we asked the same question about the tax plan. mark: it is good policy within the democratic party and more broadly, to be for solar panels and more renewables without a doubt, it puts the republicans somewhat on the defensive, but this was not a big, bold sweeping plan in dealing with carbon and i think you cannot put the keystone thing aside. bernie sanders and martin o'malley -- i don't know why she knows a lot about it she cannot take a position. john: if you are going to frame her plan -- to say i'm obama plus, you might as well go all the way. you are going to take criticism from the right for be more regulatory a

mrs. clinton is proposing. >> candidate clinton is posing a progressive scale for capital gains taxes for wealthy americans. we are waiting on paper for all the details out there after her speech today. i like to see the paper but according to wall street journal she would increase the rate for profits on investments held for one to two years from the current 20% to the current ordinary top income tax rate of 39.6%. this would kick in for taxpayers making more than $400,000 a year, people making less would continue to pay at the lower 20% rate. than the rate for high earners would decline on a sliding scale down to 32% and all the way back to 20% on investments held at least six years. >> this means from the moment investors buy into a company they will be more focused on its future growth strategy and its immediate profit. >> the clinton campaign says the proposal is designed to remove incentives for, quote, short term and the line investments towards long-term value. cheryl: thank you very much, wall street not liking what they heard. also this affecting mrs. clinton, called growing lou

mrs. clinton stacks up against jeb bush, marco rubio and scott walker. bernie sanders also loses to those three but this numbers are better than hillary clinton's. again, is that a sign of trouble for her? >> i think that reactions and the poll bumps we are seeing from sanders and donald truck. small handful of others is a typical sort of year before the big year reaction people have. if we had gone with these kind of polls in 2007 or in 2012, we would -- or 2011 we would have president john edwards or john glenn, we have have had president mario komo. these types of polls so eventually the situation sorts itself out. despite the narrative that she is the frontrunner and despite the narrative that jeb bush or scott walker is leading the pack at the end of the day. right now a lot of people are concerned about how these things are shaking out. and that's why guys like bernie sanders and donald trump might end up at top of these polls. jon: her perceptions of her not not trustworthy those are persistent in a couple of important states, too. colorado and vir

here is how we took it to hillary clinton. mr.ush: when president obama says that we have been too blind to the way past injustices shape the president, he is speaking the truth. [applause] but, we should be just as candid about our failures in addressing the injustices of a more recent origin. in our cities, we have so many people who have not known anything but poverty. so many young adults with no vision of a life beyond the life they know. every one of them was promised at least one big break in life in the form of a public school to help them learn who they are and what they could do. mark: so while jeb bush turned the other cheek, he left the responding to hillary clinton to his spokesman who took to twitter with this response -- "clinton has a chance to unite in fovavor of a false cheap shot." john did secretary clinton execute the place she wanted to execute at the urban league? john: she executed the play she wanted to execute. this signals that she thinks jeb bush is going to be the republican nominee and wants to frame
