supervisor dufty: thank you for being here, mr. lee, on behalf of the bureau of environmental health management. we have heard support for this legislation. i just want to add, since supervisor alioto-pier cannot be here this morning, she asked that i offer some words in addition to the value of having restaurant appreciation month. i certainly think it gives all of us in our districts an opportunity to celebrate the importance that restaurants play to who we are, the identity of the city, a an attraction that an attraction that people from all over the world come to visit for. i think this is a good way to a acknowledge the work that restaurants have done for the city. we established rating systems, a lot of requirements that they have met us on. i see that stephanie is here from supervisor alioto-pier's office. if you would like to add some words -- >> thank you, supervisor dufty. this is just supervisor alioto- pier's idea to recognize the restaurants and the vitality that they contribute to san francisco. it is a symbol ordinan

supervisor mirkarimi: i want to thank my co-sponsor bevan dufty, i want to thank the treasurer, mr. augustine, and the rest of the treasurer staff that is here, as well as my office for helping to advance this to this particular date. this will probably be one of the most dense piece of loss that you could get excited about -- laws that you could get excited about, for the pro-tax parking aficionado's and for those against it. these are two orders that aggregate 97 pages of law. we arrived at this place of pushing these two pieces of legislation as a reaction to our efforts earlier this year when we were contemplating putting on the june ballot an increase in san francisco's parking tax. if you recall in the deliberations, i was explaining that we have not increased our parking tax since 1980 when then-mayor feinstein had advanced the parking tax. we thought it was time that it could be a helpful response for us to look for potential revenue generation. in lieu of pursuing that particular strategy, i was listening to a number of people, especially the parking lot operators -- a well

mr. president, without belaboring the point, i would like to think supervisor dufty for introducing this item. i had the pleasure of working with jane morning during my tenure at the police commission. i have to say that i get to meet someone who was more dedicated to having meaningful community policing not only in the castro and in the mission but throughout san francisco. i think that this is an important step but also the first that in honoring the chain's memory because there are many issues that she fought for that remain issues today and in a time of limited resources i think at some point, we need to revisit the issue of what the role of a specialist should be and the way in which community policing happens in the inner- city. this is something that cheyne worked very hard towards and unfortunately it was very difficult. i see this as a first that in honoring her many -- from memory. we thank you for your reservist to the city and county of san francisco. >> in 2005 and 2006, it was jane warner who walked with us in the early part of our system. if you want to look at to the reso
