mr. green's mother and attorney lee merritt. good to be with you.ected on the state level of 47-year-old ronald greene. his words were, we don't want to be groveling. the state shouldn't be groveling to be brought into accountability. so i'm not expecting in the next ten minutes when they hold the press conference over my shoulder to hear any state charges coming. there's a federal investigation, as you know, kasie, going on right now. that was launched in september that involved doj and fbi. mr. merritt saying he's expecting charges on that in a couple of months but from a state level, there's no signs there will be any movement and he's told today they have a accountability and skruplessness to see it through. we will see charges to the grand jr. eventually, but the question is, when will it be? the state is not consistent with its emphasis. the family was told he died in 2019 from injuries he sustained in a crash. and then following that a report that cited struggles with troopers but nothing about use of force. and then after that there was use

lee? >> thank you. mr. vazquez, i would like to start with you. thanks for your service to our country and thanks for your willingness to testify in front of our committee today. there are a number of people including you who have raised concerns that this proposed rule could be the beginning of a national firearm registry. could you explain why? >> yes, sir, and thank you for that question. i would like to expand on that somewhat. one of the things said earlier, several things were required to serialize gun control. that's incorrect. an article under the gun control act says they are required to put a serial number on them so a person can still manufacture or build his own firearm without having to put required markings on it, and as far as turning it into a registration, the burden put on gun smiths and the proposal was to have -- atf proposed to give gun smiths the ability to put serial numbers on homemade firearms for people that wanted to make their homemade firearm and they would mark these with a portion of their license and an annotated se

joining us now is lee merritt, an attorney for ronald greene's family. mr. merritt, thank you for being with us tonight. i know this has been a really intense day. >> thank you so much for having me. >> i know that this has been a long haul for the greene family already. it has been more than two years since mr. greene was killed. what sort of justice are they seeking? >> we want criminal accountability for every officer involved. rachel, i really appreciate that you've done a very thorough job of pointing out the failures on every level of accountability. supervisors, district attorneys, prosecutors who are supposed to look at this evidence. over the past two years, they've completely failed to take any serious actions to hold these officers accountable and deter this kind of behavior. this behavior has gone ignored and they've been allowed to continue to terrorize other members of the louisiana community. the family has gotten no closer. >> the state police responded to the release of this video tonight by saying it was unauthorized, which, yeah, to state
