mr. janssen's family for the benefit of kelvin melton, an inmate at the polk correctional institution in butler, north carolina. >> reporter: a habitual felon serving a life sentence without parole. it was janssen's daughter, colleen, a prosecutor well known to the local community, who had put melton and other gang members behind bars. the fbi easily tracked the threatening text messages, and the cell phone logs which included calls to and from kelvin melton from his prison cell. >> you have this digital footprint now of telephone calls, from the prison cells to the folks he's using on the outside. you can sit in an office and probably track what they're doing and probably listen to those telephone calls. >> reporter: which is exactly what the fbi was doing. "get a bag, put it over his head, and stuff something in his mouth, " the suspects were heard saying, according to the complaint. "make him drink a whole bottle of nyquil." the fbi had to move fast, the phone calls leading to this apartment complex. >> minutes later in the dark the rescue. >> just heard a lot of commotion, a lot of b

mr. janssen's family for the benefit of kelvin melton, an inmate at the correctional institution in butleruted by frank janssen's daughter who is an assistant district attorney, and as a result, melton received a state sentence of life without parole. >> well, that's a long sentence. but guess what, since the threats were sent via cell phone texts, the authorities were able to match up phone records and it turns out there were cell phone calls being made from inside a prison cell. and when they listened in to those conversations, they heard talk about disposing of janssen. so by midnight on wednesday, an fbi hostage team stormed in and they rescued janssen. neighbors describe what happened. >> i just heard a lot of commotion, a lot of booms. >> explosions? >> a lot of explosions. like flash bang grenades. >> they gave them a warning. nobody responded. so they threw the bombs in it the house and blew -- yeah, blew the door off. >> janssen was reunited with his family, thank god. five people now face federal kidnapping charges. a riveting story. digging a little deeper on this. cnn legal ana

the engineer hired by the trial lawyer representing the meltons had discovered the defective part and its replacement with the same number. and went mr cooper confronted general motors mr. ray digiorg digiorgio, their league switch engineer with the evidence of the parts which, he lied. he said he did know anything about it. documents, general motors, validation sign off. signed on april 2006 bears the signature of in fact ray digiorgio. spelled out in the document also new plunger was implement it to increase torque force in the switch. with the box checked resubmission doing engineering changes. further, it is now clear that gm knew of the faulty switch in 2004, new the airbags were not the point in 2005 and in late 2005 knew someone had died. we don't know how many people crashed because of this cover-up. we do know that many died, including ms. melton at least one of my constituents, a missouri woman who died in a crash in 2009 out in the suburbs surrounding st. louis. so there's great work done by a trial lawyer and an engineer he hired in exposing a serious safety issue with a product, work that should have first been done by g

melton received a state sentence of life without parole. >> reporter: the investigation is still ongoing and involves multiple law enforcement agencies but mrafter a frightening five day-ordeal. eric, back to you. eric: wow, that is amazing. jonathan, thank you so much. jenna: a move that is very interesting for walmart, one of the biggest companies in the united states. walmart is going organic in a very big way ratcheting up pressure on its rivals offering high quality, organic produce at a lower price. fox business's adam shapiro is here. the question is how low? >> reporter: how low can they go, right? it won't be whole paycheck as some are accused off. walmart needs to attract customers back to its stores after more than a year of watching sales drop. the decision to team up with wild oats, the nation second largest organic grocer will allow people who shop at walmart to purchase everything from salsa to pasta, roughly 100 wild oat's organic products at 2,000 walmart stores in addition to food not labeled as organic. eventually they will expand and sell the organic products to 4,000 outlets. upside for you, cheaper prices. organic food
